Boulder Park Trail - Trail, Dallas, Texas

Boulder Park Trail - Trail, Dallas, Texas

DESCRIPTION

Some fields, lots of woods, rocky sections, and lordy! look out for the slime on those creek crossings! This is a pretty neat trail, several climbs that will work your legs little, a lot of twisties to keep you awake, or smack you awake should you doze. A few fast sections, too, just to keep it from being all work.

Loved this trail. The wife and I went yesterday and it was great. 10 minutes from downtown and when you get into the middle you feel like you're on a nature preserve. Google maps says the road bordering the west side of the park is "Boulder Rd" but it was marked now as "Pastor" Someone or other. There's no parking. There's a tiny opening in the fence on the west side of the park and directly across from that opening there was a small spot to park (there were a couple couches there where people had dumped them). There's also a small sign in red that says "Trail." Or there's also a spot where you can jump the curb on the North side of the park. There's a sign there that says "Boulder Park."

The trails can spin you around some, but as long as you have a pretty good sense of direction and take note of where the sun is when you enter you'll be fine. I was impressed with how clean the trails were.

We did have some difficulty with mud, but that was half the fun. I would recommend you ride in groups on this one because the area around this park tends to be a high crime area.

i have been coming over to dfw area once a month for airforce reserve and riding trails each time. so far this is the best i have found in the area. the trail has good flow. i love trails that enable you to maintain your speed. too bad the city could not build a road to the center of the park and at least build a parking lot and restrooms. the trail has some climbs and descents but mainly it flows well and is fairly fast.

I'm about to go ride the boulder park trail today. just thought i would clarify for everyone that recently the name of the road has been changed to "pastor Bailey drive" instead of boulder drive.

windmill hill trail is nice. it is not so much a loop as it is a number of jot-outs that meet back in the middle.
the uphills are rooty and gravel-y, so they'll test your skills.
good luck~

One of the first trails I have ridden in the Dallas area. Not a nice area to have to park your vehicle in. We parked across the street and saw what looked like broken auto glass everywhere. First of all, I would like to take my hat off to DORBA for all their hard work in maintaining these trails. This trail is pretty fast with lots of roots. Some nice dips and tight turns. Trail is mostly under canopy. The yellow police tape kind of freaked me out under that dense canopy. Anyways, fast trail. I would definately like to ride again when I am in the area.

This trail is hands down the best trail to ride in the DFW area. DORBA has worked hard on this trail thanks to the trail steward "Shadow". This trail has been marked very well recently 11-25-06. They have two ways to go.....red (which I recommend) or green. The red is about 10.4 miles and has some great climbs and drops. If you like rocks this is the place to be for Texas.

Customer Service

Follow the red trail markers.

This is the first trail I ever rode in the DFW area, and it was a mess. The trail steward did an incredible job giving this trail a great loop. There is a ton of climbing (for Dallas), some great little rollercoaster like sections. If you rode this trail before and were not impressed, try it again, you will be amazed.

Customer Service

The route is well marked, just follow it.

Well, it had been a while since we'd ridden Boulder Park...lots of changes since our last visit...the trail steward met us in the parking area and told us about all the work he has done to the trail...instead of the former spiderweb of trails, he's turned it into a 5 mile loop and you don't repeat any of the sections...this is a great idea except for the fact that the trail seems like it would be more fun if the route was backwards from the direction he chose. Overall, a fun, somewhat challenging ride. LOTS of shade, which is very welcome this time of year.

Customer Service

follow the well-marked signs...impossible to get lost

One of the best in DFW, its a little on the short side and not as challenging as others but so much more fun. You have to find the bowl section in the east side, which is a dried out creek bed that turns into a half pipe. There is also a 20' drop to ride up and down on. The trail is poorly marked so be prepared to spend some time getting lost. Very much like RCP, but shorter and not as populated.

Customer Service

Try the east side first, sometimes the west side is grown over.
