I had the misfortune of riding the trails at Hudson Springs today. Ordinarily, I enjoy riding them a couple times a week after work. They are close to my home in Streetsboro, are legal, and are moderately challenging. Well, not any more! Apparently, someone felt that one of the obstacles was a little too tough, and destroyed it. It was an old fallen tree that partially blocked one side of a log bridge. It was about 1' in diameter, but pretty old and spongy with several smaller logs stacked on either side. I wouldn't call it difficult, but it added an interesting twist to a dull log bridge. Also, with a little slow speed balance, you could squeeze around it for some variety. Well, I guess a couple idiots decided that it didn't belong, and hacked the thing into pieces that they used to fill in gaps in the log bridge to make it smoother. Now it's slightly more difficult than a mall parking lot, but not much. Good trails are so hard to find, and it really kills me that people who don't have the skill to ride them will tear them up to make them "more rideable". If you can't clear an obstacle, carry your bike over it or at least ride around it. And if smooth, fast trails is what you want, stick to the bike-and-hike.

This has some fun stuff. There are 4 trails off the main bike trail adding up to 2.6 miles. One 30' 45 deg hill is just rude! You take it at an angle, but don't lose the front wheel. Another part has a log jump off a 4' drop. Plenty of other logs to cross. Finish the last trail and reverse direction.

This is worth a 1/2 hour drive. I rarely see anyone else out there.

Some good compressions, lots of tree roots and logs to hop over. Not very challenging in terms of a technical ride. A good warm up, don't go out of your way to ride this one
