Blankets Creek - Trail, Woodstock, Georgia

Blankets Creek - Trail, Woodstock, Georgia

DESCRIPTION

Trail is mostly single track (after the latest re-routes in August) all built and maintained by SORBA. - The only "re-use" trail of any length is an old logging road used as the in/out - access. FYI - ATV/Motorcycle trails are not typically sustainable -therefore we used little or none of the few existing ones on the site. Loop Names - Mosquito Flats (Beginner); Dwelling Loop (Intermediate); South Loop (Advanced) - Hamilton's Hop (in/out - access trail) - Shultz Chute - (in/out - access trail to the advanced loop)

Strength:

These trails are well kept, somewhat challenging and are easily accessible from,I75 and I 575.

Weakness:

Blankets Creek is overrated as number one in GA. Allatoona Creek has over 32 miles of singletrack varying from beginner to advanced. They also have flow trails, jump lines and a pump track. It's a little further out from metro atlanta but well worth the trip.

Strength:

Best Trail system this side of the Mississippi. I've ridden several places across North America and always find my myself yearning for Blanket's dirt. Excellent marked trails that satisfies the hunger of gnar for even the most advanced rider.

Weakness:

I wish there were more trails!

SORBA has done an excellent job with this trail system. There is a large parking area complete with a bike wash and bathrooms. The trails are mostly hard pack clay with a few roots. South Loop is the most "technical" with a few rocky sections, Dwelling is the go FAST intermediate loop and Van Michael (VMT) is the advanced loop with the most climbing. There is usually 20+ cars parked in the lot but you rarely have any problems with traffic because the trails are run directional depending on what day you're riding. It's a great place to ride during the week and its easy access from 575. Just make sure if its been raining to check the SORBA website because the trails will close due to wet conditions.

Customer Service

Routes are run directional based on what day you're riding. If you're a solid rider you can ride south loop in 22-25mins, Dwelling in 19mins and VMT in 25-30mins. Check Strava there are lots of segments.

Sorba has done a great job with this trail system. The trails are maintained very well. Great systems for ever level of rider.

On the beginner trails and intermediate watch out for walkers/joggers/unleashed dogs

Fantastic trail system! I have to give a HUGE thank you to SORBA Woodstock for making a trail system this nice and this close to my house possible.

You can find something for everyone here. The trails include: Mosquito Flats (beginner), Mosquito Bite (beginner+), Dwelling Loop (intermediate), South Loop (advanced), Van Michael (advanced), and Quell Holler (expert).

I keep it simple with a single speed 26er, so Dwelling is my go-to for a good butt whoopin'! The absolute only addition I could think of for Blankets would be a pump track. I can honestly say that if I were to ever move away from here, I could very easily justify the cost of road trips and plane tickets to come rip it up!

Customer Service

A little warm-up action on Flats/Bite, followed by your personal choice of awesomeness. Oh, don't forget to check out the alt line on Dwelling. It's a hoot!

Great trails, there are a lot of different trails to chose from and they are all different in their own way. Very fun.

I liked the trail, thought is was fast and flowed well. It was a bit confusing as to which way to go since i haven't been there before. This place was packed with tons of bikers. I would say just see if you can tag along with someone, that way you don't have to wonder which way to go.

Customer Service

NO idea.

Great trail system for anyone. First-timers will enjoy misquito flat/bite (I've seen training wheels out there on numerous ocassions). With that said, go slow and warm up. Save the speed for the other, more challenging (and less crowded) trails. Dwelling is fast and flowy. Van Michael, IMO, is similar to dwelling but with longer (and much more challenging) climbs and descents. Sout Loop is not as aerobically difficult as Van Michael, but is much more technically demanding. Never got the chance to try the downhill before I moved away.

The only real downside to this trail system is that it gets CROWDED on nice days. Try to ride here during off-peak days and times (i.e. not the weekend) to fully appreciate this trail system. It gets a one chili deduction from me for this reason.

Customer Service

Follow the day-directions and watch out beginners and little ones.

These are some amazing trails, and for 2011, they opened Quehl's Holler which is the downhill course. It has beginner, medium / fast downhill, cardio insanity, and technical rock trails. I ride there at least 3 times a week.

Customer Service

Depends on your riding level and what you want to do. The trails are extremely well marked and maintained. Getting lost there is virtually impossible, and they have a map on the board by the parking lot. If you want aerobic, tear up Van Michael. If you want technical hit south loop. If you're new, just stick to Mosquito Bite or Dwelling. There's something for everyone.

This is where I am learning to ride. I have ridden on alot of places in the area and this group of trails is by far the best set of trails I have been. I am working my way into the advanced trails but i usually ride the dwelling loop and get faster each time. It has something for every rider
