Links, The - Trail, Kings, Nova Scotia


The Links is a series of old, intersecting logging roads scattered over the mountain linked together with new sections of XC single-track, downhill, ladder bridges, teeter-totter, and small DJ’s. The Links is sure to please XC and Downhill fans, and resembles much of what you love about Cape Split. There is a panoramic southern view of the Annapolis Valley.

Sections of the Links are designated “Runs” are multi-use. These are frequented by hikers, horses, snow-shoers, skiers, snowmobiles and few ATV’s. New sections of the trail, “Lines”, have been developed exclusively for mountain bikes and hikers. Though the trails have been named, it will be Spring before the signs will be available.

From Coldbrook: Take exit 14 and turn left into Coldbrook (stop for a double-double). Proceed west and turn right onto Lovett Road just past Frenchy’s. At the end of Lovett turn left and proceed to next stop sign. Turn Right onto Lakeville Rd. Continue to next stop sign and proceed directly through intersection past Tinker Links. Follow to Burgess Road and proceed up mountain. At the top you will see a large green and white sign designating the Woodville Hiking Trail system. Park.

From Berwick: Take exit 15 and drive North to the Route 221 intersection, Turn right and drive east towards Woodville. Turn left onto Bligh Road and take the first paved road on right. Follow to Burgess Road and proceed up mountain. At the top you will see a large green and white sign designating the Woodville Hiking Trail system. Park.

Shuttle Pick Up: Retrace route down Burgess Road and turn right at stop sign. Follow to next stop sign and turn right again. Turning left past the farms look for Arnold road (dirt) going North towards mountain – wait for cyclist at stop sign. There is no parking available near the mill.

Type of riding: The Links is especially popular for it’s XC loops and technical downhill routes. It is possible to get in 2 -3 shuttled runs per hour.

Stoneman Downhill (red) Look Off Run + Jump Line + Stone Line + Rock Run
Park @ Woodville Hiking Trails sign. Follow Look Off Run to Jump Line (DJ’s and Teeter) which leads into the Stone Line single track. This will lead you directly to the Rock Run. The descent is a steep trail down the side of the mountain - washed out four wheeler path, rock gardens and single track. There are many opportunities to catch air, and a few ladder bridges to test your skills. It ends at Arnold Road where you will want to have a shuttle waiting to get in another run.

Gravity Downhill (green) Look Off Run + Short Line + Rim Line + Gravity Line

Park @ Woodville Hiking Trails sign and proceed down the Look Off Run to the Short Line. Turn Left onto Rim Line and follow Gravity Line to it’s completion @ the apple orchards. Turn left and follow edge of fields to the pond next to Foote Family Farms on Woodville Road.

Quarry Downhill (Orange) Cabin Run + Mud Run + Quarry Run
This alternate downhill consist of a steep logging road littered with rock gardens. Although less challenging than the Stoneman, there is still plenty of opportunity for adrenaline and injury.

XC Runs (Blue) Cabin Run + Porcupine Line + Centre Line + A Line + North Line + B Line + A Line + Stoneman or Gravity Downhill

The recommended access to this trail is near the Cabin Run located on the northern end of Burgess Road (point C on map) or by the pond on Hiltz Road.

Mud Run (Brown) Cabin Run + Mud Run + Quarry Run
Great route for rainy day rides as sections remain wet all year round. This combination is the preferred access to the Quarry Downhill.
