I rode this trail twice one weekend while visiting in the area. There are certainly lots of trails, but the overall distance didn't seem to be more than a few km. The trails are challenging (rocks, roots) but this cuts down on the fun factor. I like a technical ride, but one that you can work up a bit more speed and not wreck yourself or your bike.

I basically followed the description I found on this web site and got there OK.

I had my first race on this trail about 5 yrs ago. I love this trail. It's a bit crazy when it's wet, but when it's dry, it rocks. The trail has gone through some transitions in its short life, for the better thanks to Shawn and the boys. The races every Tuesday night in July are alot of fun. Thank Shawn and Tom for keeping it alive.
This trail may be short, but it has gotten many a rider to start racing and really get them involved in the sport.
You can really hone your technical skills on this trail.

The route is very nice. Lots of bikers go through here. Its really rocky, and really rooty :) Recommended is intermediate to advanced.

Some nice climbs, and some nice downhill.
Also some man made drops are there now. So better check those out.

Good trail. Careful when its wet...almost took a bad fall.

So now your in, after a minute of biking u will be confused. But that truely doesen't matter cause they all basicly end up on that little gravel road.

Now if you wont some real fun im going to tell you the advanced racing trail. at the mouth of the trail theres an old gate and a small gravel road. Head up that gravel road and take your second left. About 3 feet after turning left it splits, take a right (this is really important or you'll end up on the easiest trail)now follow that little loop and go up a small hill. Go right at the top of it, after a min of biking you should come to another right turn that goes of a pile of roots. BINGO, you are now at the biggest down hill part of thr course ( its steep and has lots of ditches and roots). You'll come to a turn near the bottom that almost turns you around. Now you should be near a small ladder. Follow the trail, it kind of goes around the side of the lake. Turn left and go up that pretty big climb. When you reach the top turn left. Now your going to be at a pretty bige hill that is littered with rocks of every size ( i cant count the times i went over my handle bars into the trees).if you have to bail, make it into the trees, the rocks on that hill will rip you apart. The trail will turn left and then make a sharp turn to thr right. You will come to a small ladder bridge and at the end of it is the base to a monsterous climb. At the end you will come out the shearwater airfield. now u can turn left, right, or go straight, turn right. You have now come to one of might favourite parts. Its a extremely steep but short hill. Be very carful, its always slippery and its surrounded by thick trees. When your at the bottom just follow the trail be cause it doesent split or anything like that. When you come out u will be in a type of small gully that is in the middle of the airfield. Follow that gully and you will go back into the woods on the other side of the airfield. Same thing as on the other side just follow that one trail. now you will come to one of those extremely step but short hills, you have to go up it. Now just follow the trail till it comes to the gravel road in the middle of the airfeild. Turn right and follow the gravel trail to the back of the airfield till you reenter woods (you should of just went right through the gully). You follow the trail over all kinds of puddles. You will go aroung a turn that has a rock in it. now go down the trail and take your first left. just follow that trail and you shold be back on the little gravel trail in front of the gate.

This trail I would recomend for advanced riders. Be ready for wet conditions. There use to be races here that Tom from the Bike People held, they dont happen anymore, Tom thanks for the memories.

Take the circumferential hyw. heading towards shearwater Till you reach the turn off for portland street. Make sure you take the turn off that points you torward Cole Harbour. Drive down portland st. till you reach the the for way stop at the base of the hill to cole harbour. To your right there should be brick gates that say "Portland Estates". Now this is where u got to be careful, it will take you about 30 seconds to get lost in here. So the road you are on now (portland estates blvd.) follow it to a tree way stop. There should be a hill to your right, Go up it. Just follow it althe way up, the hill makes a left turn, stil follow it. When your at the top just go straight. At the very end of the road there is a gaurd rail, your here.
