Strength:

nice machine ground cones.

Weakness:

3/16" bearings and small cones wear out faster. 1/4" balls and bigger cones like those used in the rear hubs would be better. Wallyworld has made the switch on all their bsos so why not Shimano. The ends of the 10mm x 1mm pitch axle are turned down slightly to remove the threads and to match old school axle diameter where the axle ends rest in the fork ends. The lock nuts are just 3 mm thin and that's not enough threads to hold tight. I have one where the lock nut stripped the threads off the axle, the cones lost their adjustment and wore out (both sides). There is a keyless washer on both sides that is useless. A better solution would be to remove the washer and use a thicker lock nut. Overall this was a half way step to using a thicker and stronger axle but stuck with the undersized bearings. If you are shopping for good hubs, look for something better.

Came original on my 07 Caffienne 29er and it has worked flawlessly with routine lube of loose ball bearings.
