Strength:

Bought it for son who needs a good ride in downtown Denver to Cherry Creek for work each day. It will be dependable instead of walking or RTD buses which do not run after midnight for bartenders.

Weakness:

Do not know yet

Looking forward to getting a review from my son after riding for a few weeks. With the price I know it cannot be all bad.

Ok, this is a bike from '97 that came stock with horrible components.
In stock form I would give it one chili. The surprise is a descent frame. I recently tried to sell this frame with no luck, due to the rei department store aura of the bike. Stuck with it, I decided to rebuild it as an extra ride for friends or riding to the beach. I built it up with spare parts. It is mostly lx, a little xt, ritchey rims and hubs, shitty old indy c with smashed elatomers, etc. I expected the bike to be a piece of crap, but was pleasantly surprised. This bike only weighs about 25 pounds and is a blast to ride. The frame with better parts is actually pretty nice. It's aluminum and has kind of a shortish cockpit which gives it this bmxy totally in control feel. It's funny because my good bike is a full xt, manitou sx, control tech, ti, etc. Tange prestige ultimate tubed fisher. I like riding the spare parts mobile so much more. The moral of my rambling is ride what makes you smile and feels right instead of following the advice of all these bike snobs that have overrun this site.

this bike rules for equiping with a basket and carrying your dog. the stock xtr brake levers are woefully inadequete, the upgrade to lee chi made a world of difference. i also went with a dotech 165mm crankset for extra spinning power. the alex single wall rims rule since they are super easy to bend. i replace the stx rear with acera x and was pleasantly surprised, i hear these are the best i would highly recommend this bike for your mom.

I had the Novra for two months and when I was riding the saddle fell off.I
tried to fix it then I found it was die cast metal made from the metal molder
I complaind to novra about this, but all they said was only the best from our
factory later on I switched to a Gary Fisher, a good bike. And the Novra
also gave me monkey butt!

I hate it.
It started creaking incessantly about a month after I bought it. I thought it was the cranks so I tried new cranks. I thought it was the pedals, so I changed them. I thought it was the bottom bracket so I (Oh my gosh, how did you know?!? How?!!? How?! How, how, how did you know?! common....what's going on here?!? something weird is going on here. Something very very very weird) changed that. It still creaked, and you know what was creaking? The shitty frame.
More stuff happened but I dont want to write it.

This is a lot of bike for the Money. Aluminum frame, rapid fire shifters for those of us who are
diehards, front suspension, fairly good components, nice stem. If you're an REI member, you'll get
your dividend back. Friend of mine who used to own a bike shop says it was a real good deal. All
it needs is clipless pedals as an add-on.
