DESCRIPTION

I love this helmet. By far one of the more popular helmets I've had, and I've actually been had a bee or two fly into the helmet and been protected by the mesh liner. That's actually a really cool feature in my book. I've had this thing for years and it's still works like a champ.

Looks, fit, protection, swag
Rear locking system
I really like this helmet. It fits true to the chart. I payed much less than MSRP, so I rated it at a better value. I like the chin strap adjustments, the liner, the visor, and it looks awesome. The rear protection comes down a bit farther than XC or race helmets, but it is lighter and better vented than "enduro". You get 3 different light/camera mounts. I also got a bottle of 5hr energy.
The rear lock system is a bit more robust than other new designs. Giro does it better. This is like my old Rudy Project or even older Bell. It does ride low in the back, so it interferes with my glasses ear pieces.

Good fit, good ventilation, decent price
Liner deteriorated after a few months of use, no way to get a replacement. Nor through dealer neither through Kali direct.
Good product, lousy support. Ended up throwing away a perfectly fine helmet.

Go pro mount, lots of ventilation
Uncomfortable, nasty stickers, nothing to really separate it from a cheaper helmet
Polystyrene covered in plastic. Personally I think helmets are ridiculously cheap to manufacture. People seem to spend extra money for some mythical extra protection or some coolio fashionable fonts or some unproven extra feature or gimmick. The Amara was reasonable value, but like any of these silly pieces of poly and plastic I doubt it will do very much in any kind of serious crash, snakeoil, sure, but better than skin and hair. To be fair it is fairly light and fits tight. It's migraine inducingly painful to wear after a few hours but I'm sure it will wear in, and the peak is a good size and the go-pro mount works well.
On the other hand my bargain basement Chinese helmet I had before (probably made in the same factory) was no heavier, just as well ventilated and more comfortable but the fit was not as reliable, and the straps more prone to stretch.
