Strength:

They worked with my cleats from my Acid pedals that snapped in half.

Weakness:

The clip part of the pedal developed an 1/8" of play with in 2 months of use.

I will not ride crank brothers any more, Time to move on.

i made the mistake of buying these pedals after having nothing but trouble with the original version. i thought id try again after crap brothers redesigned them. i should have known better. after trying to install a replacement dead after 6 months bearing i find the inside bush has moved and there is now about 8 mm of movement of the platform along the axle. having spent £80 on these poorly designed pedals im gutted to be throwing them in thde bin. everybody that i know who has bought a crank bros product has either returned it or, as i am now, thrown it in the bin. how are they still in business ?

Strength:

Platform and Color. Good to use with more flexible Hike a Bike shoes because the platform gives you that extra support. The anodized Red matches the color scheme on my Speshy Enduro

Weakness:

Weak Paint and Spindle

Probably the only and best full platform/clip pedal on the market. So for what it is designed to be, it does that extremely well compared to other platform/clip pedals on the market.

Now for the negatives: The paint is horrible. I know pedals get thrashed, but the paint started to wear off just after 1 or 2 rides.

I've ridden on these for 4 months now and the pedal has some side-to-side play on the spindle. I tried to tighten the screw at the end hoping that would help and it did not. One of the screws was about to come off...and could have meant the pedal coming off while riding...ouch!

Bottom line: I'm happy with them and will continue to switch between them and my Acid 2. I'm waiting for the new 2012 Mallets to come out in stores. They are lighters, thinner, and look nicer.

I run Pearl Izumi x-alp shoes which are very flexible and these are great for when I really need to mash it. And I don't need to switch pedals when I just want to mess around in the driveway with flip flops on.

Minus 1 Chilli because of the issues. Will have to see if they can hold up to the abuse I'm going to put them through this year.

Strength:

Good looking pedal, seemed easy to maintain and use.

Weakness:

Poor design, doesn't take abuse well. Not sure about Crank Brothers customer service, going to try to exchange them.

The whole platform came right off the spindle during a ride! An 8mm bolt is all that held the whole platform on the spindle and if this is too tight or not tight enough, it will strip and the pedal will be useless. Total letdown because this pedal has potential.

Strength:

They are not strong at all.

Weakness:

Axle comes loose.
The spring (the red one in the picture above) on spindle warps and jams/shears into cage, preventing the spindle from turning and making clipping in impossible. This makes the pedal redundant, and can't be fixed.

These pedals have given me 2 incentives-
1. Never buy Crank Brothers again
2. Revert to flat pedals (loving it too!)

Very dissapointing Crank Bros, you've let a fan down.
