The new Avid trails were true revelation. The elixir 9 trail that I had been using before, showed Avid has been making some progress in reliability, ease of maintainence, preformance. The x0 trail, installed on enduro 29, are the the best brakes my fingers ever came across. Working flawlessly out of the box, providing tons of power with such precision and straightforward maintenance. Not a sound, or vibration ever ocurred and the levers survived a few impact I was sure will leave them bleeding. No damage, short of a sheared pivot bolt, that was easily replaced at no costs.Originally, the brakes are equipped with alu backed organic pads which are super quiet and consistent, but wear out fast. They lasted less than 2 months. Now I run trusted and proven avid metalic pads and are just as good, with an odd scream here and there.
The braking feeling is predictable, lever extremely well designed to provide both secure one finger grip and modulation with power to stop speeding 29 inch wheels.
