Orbea Lanza XC Hardtail

DESCRIPTION

Aluminum never rode so smoothly. 7005 double-butted aluminum with precisely triangulated tube shapes gives a ride that is laterally stiff, but still forgiving. An oversized seat tube adds extra stiffness to the bottom bracket. S-bend stays take the edge off even the most rugged trails.

Strength:

Light weight and stiff, ultra cool, not too many around, relly happy with the build spec, not high end but cost efficient, they all do a great job and I dont think its worth upgrading them.

Weakness:

took me a while to get used to the riding position, most likely due to the bike that I used to ride (still do)
Maybe the frame is a bit too stuff for the riding that I do and so the vibrations go through to the body easier.

There are no weaknesses with the bike itself but the bolts holding the brake levers on (Juicy 5) have surface rust on them and the pedal (SPD 520 or 540 - cant remember right now) also got surface rust on them pretty quickly. This is not a bike weakness though.

It's awsome, crest over the top of a hill and it takes off, easier to see 35 to 40 Km/hr without even trying. sandy wash outs arnt a problem

I beleive that this bike is aimed at cross country racers, I think that thrashing it around town is a) a waste of a good bike and b) potentially more damaging than riding it for what it was designed for.

Also the wheels / tire combination takes some care, it came with and I am running Hutchinson Pythons on Mavic Rims, they are tubeless but I found that if there isn't enough air in them, the bead can come off the rim. This comment is aimed at people who might not have used tubeless before (I hadn't) and found out the hard / sore way (the concrete is hard, the scar is still sore!) again, this comment is not a refelction on the bike, its a comment to asist others.

I am tempted to only give it 4 chilles for overall rating due to the rust on the juicy clamp bolts and the pedals but they are not the product, the product is the Orbea Lanza Zenit and its great, if I was reviewitn the brakes and pedals separately then I would mark those down.
