Strength:

good componentry and reasonably light weight for the price.

Weakness:

turkey gobble from avid g3 disks. possible headset sealing issue. fr derailleur covers seat tube bottle cage bolt?!

I bought this as ex sample bike Nov 2010. Found it weird that fr derailleur clamp covers the bottle cage bolt hole?? This may have been sorted on production version. First ride was a sandy wet one- ended in head set full of grit/water. replaced it with cartridge bearing set. Didn't take long before the noisy 'turkey gobble' appeared from brakes.. semi fixed by adding washers under caliper mounts to stop pads dropping off inside of disks. 185mm disk upgrade not as bad. Tyres are noticeably slippery on wet clay or tree roots. Other than that it has been a nice ride, love the new 2x10 X9 group set and brakes work well albeit noisy at low speed. Used in 'all mountain' it has taken plenty beatings/bailings and never left me stranded.

Strength:

Cheap, great spec for the price

My first half decent mountain bike. Should have been about US$1000, but I got it for $600 in an end of year runout sale. Runs very good, with good gears (XT) and the brakes stop really quick, too good sometimes!!! Great on loose ground with these tyres (which i Nicked off my wife's Trek 4300), keeps up with my mates Avanti and Giant XTC bikes. Will stick with this bike for quite a while, upgrading as and when needed. Great bike for a beginner/intermediate hardtail rider. Cheaper as it is not a mega name bike, but the frame and colours are awesome, and the spec is brilliant for a bike this price
