Strength:

downhill monster, it rides pretty sweet, handles the drops really good (at least the ones i took that where about 6 fts) and the quality-price factor is pretty fair

Weakness:

change the fork and the shock right away

dream bike for a downhiller, handles the u turns pretty good and the set up is right where it should be, if you change some of the stock parts youll get yourself a downhill beast a 4 chillis

Strength:

Great handling and maneuvering. Incredibly light for the amount of travel it has. This bike corners well and deals with suspension-jack really well. Soaks up anything you put it through no problem.

Weakness:

None after 2 1/2 years of owning this monster

Great do it all bike - can't beat it for the price or quality.
The bike climbs well and descends like you are on clouds. When they say the Black Diamond is bomb proof it really holds up to the saying. Great for XC and wonderful for downhill hill. Rare to find a bike that has got such a good ability for all over the place.

FIVE STARS BABY!!!

Mongoose 2006 Black Diamond Single. Definitely a bang for the buck deal!
- Marzocchi Drop Off 3
- Solid Crank set
- Sun Ditch Witch Wheel set- People are saying they are crap but they actually are pretty F*'n good (nice and light)
- Manitou Metel RP - As long as you don't go off drops that are more then 6 feet it's pretty sweet
- Shifters and drive train system rock and are very smooth
-Bike offers a very solid ride and can take on any terrain you push it up or down.

Weakness:

- Only one complaint... Shifters are good, but do need adjustments a bit more often then others
- Overall bike frame is pretty heavy: Weighing at 38-40lb

If your don't mind pushing a little extra weight up hill and want to enjoy and smooth ride while flying down...this is the way to go, based on performance and value. Despite it being a "Free Ride" i would be inclined to say it is a hybrid between XC and FR = All Mountain.
- Can't beat the price and the components a good

Well thought out frame geometry

Weakness:

Biggest concern was the headset coming loose. Kept tightening but didn't do any good. The back shock started leaking after a few runs (replaces it with FOX DHX).
Don't even get me started on the breaks. When you need them most they don't work (need to replace them).

Overall, it isn't a horrible bike. Given the issues i've had with it, i think i would have bought the Coiler over Black Diamond.

Not many...good frame, but otherwise stock parts are useless..When has good components rides alright/

Weakness:

Fork went within the first few weeks, Rear shock tanked after a few hard hits. Wouldn't trust brakes to save my life.

Frame is alright...replace all stock parts mentioned above. Everything else functions alright. Get something else, there are way better bikes out there for the price.

Nimble,compact,confidence inspiring

Weakness:

Heavy & Burly Freedrive system, un-helpful Mongoose support.

Great and fun to ride. Stock components comming out of the store make this weigh in at 42-lbs - and thats a small! Freedrive system is burley - but pedals suprisingly well - in an effort to customize and make this lighter and pedal better - Mongoose customer support had nothing to help me -I inquired about the recommended shock sizes for the rear and all they could tell me was: keep the original already there. 4-chillis for value, 3-for poor support.

Fantastic value! Versatile bike for FR/DH riding. Handles all terrain with ease. The stock tires are very well suited. I tried different tires, but went back to the stock tires.

Weakness:

None...the parts are good, but this bike is worth upgrading to fit the needs. Look at the double and triple and see what upgrades can be done.

Killer bike! Mongoose gives a great value! The bike pedals exceptionally well for a dh/fr bike. The Freedrive suspension works quite well. It is very tuneable to personal preferences. The stock components are a great value and the bike is really worth upgrading the components. The only downside is it typically heavy because it is a very burly bike. Plus on the other hand, I have not read that the frame has any weaknesses.

Strength:

Everything! The bike is light considering how tough it is. The bike is incredibly fast on the DH, I've raced Intense M-3's that don't feel like this. I also have taken this on long and intense all-day all-mountain/freeriding rides, and it feels great doing this as well. The bike soaks up big hits without and worries, and is as nimble as a dirt jumping bike.

Weakness:

None, I can't complain!

An incredible bike! It beats bikes three times its cost. Feels great riding trails, on any DH course, and hitting any stunt I can find.

Strength:

the bike is quite heavy but thats not much of a problem rideing down hill, rims seam to hold out on the rocks, rear shock is nice and plush, bars are verry strong. and the pivoting frame works very very well, and the bike sticks to the line your rideing!! F,A,B :-)

Weakness:

a bit on the heavy side.

what a bargin!!!!!! truly a FAB bike, it rides like a dreem. it sticks to the line your on and this is quite a hand on the off camba sections.
i have had biger named bikes, orange, santercruz. Wen i brought it i was like yee but its a mongoose, turns out its better than the other bikes i have had, and you save a bit of chash. back wheel clogs up in very mudy condishons. i use the bike for DH and its a bike that can take the punishment of a world cup DH track, how good is that. and the brakes work lovely, just right for me. I have had the bike for about 5 months and im raceing it this weekend, i know that the bike wont let me down. toptop bike worth every penny. :-)
