bomb proof, pedals up hill even though it weighs 39 lbs. best bang for your money. feels bottomless....

Weakness:

where???????????

the bottom line is this. it's the only free ride bike i have ridden that climbs. it is a go anywhere do anything bike that is forgiving and makes you feel confident. you can ride it all day and it won't wear you out. 5th element shock for sure. Cove product support is the best. stop reading and go get one, you won't be sorry....

Strength:

Engineering is A1, the frame is bullit proof. Seems like heavy bike tp pickup, but the weight isnt hardly noticable when riding it. Just point and shoot, the bike soaks it all up.

Weakness:

Not available in australia. Was a mission to get it here, cost a bomb in shipping and taxes!

This bike rocks. No matter wether its 20k bash on single trails, or down hill runs, its brilliant. I could never go back to my hard tail, ever. Its simply a matter of dialing the shocks for the big drops, then switchin back when on the single trails again.
The engineering and design of the bike are superb. After i saw the G Spot for the first time, i knew I had to have one. The bikes lived up to all my expectations, and then some. Its definatley mroe capable then I.

Strength:

Tough, Pedals OK, fits 24x3.0 (on trailpimps), stiff enough for 8" rotor. Looks badass. Guys at Cove are great to work with.

Weakness:

Cable routing ('02) Weird seat tube (30.0)

This frame can put up with alot of abuse so if you ride hard or are a heavier rider than this should be one of your options. With the right components it can handle DH yet be agile enough for urban and trail riding. THis is the only bike I have/need.

Weakness:

Flex (though i may need to do a 3 month tighten up on all of the bolts)

My setup is guestimated at ~31 lbs (and I think i'm only a x-country wheelset away from being 30). I'm a clydesdale (215lbs) with an 80/20 split of x-country to urban. It may not be the lightest x-country setup, or ready for 10 foot to flat drops (it is ready for 5 foot to flat), but it does a decent job. Peddling up doubletrack my partner noticed I had less bob than he (Superlight w/fox float) and going downhill he knew he couldn't keep up. So, while nto being the best at anything, Cove has put out a functionally versatile project.

Even though its not supposed to be of concern, i get a lot of fingers pointed and talk about the bike, nto to mention i haven't seen another Cove in town.

Light, strong, Sandvik construction and no 'namby-pamby meet you at Starbuck's with the bike on the roof rack cosmetics'. If you ride for real (Right car dropper's?- you know who you are) this is the bike for you.

Weakness:

Sorry kids it's a hardtail...Older models don't have the disc brake mounts either.

Even the Samsonite suitcase gorilla's at the airport can't break this one. Probably only Dangerous Dan and his hucking crew could hurt this frame.

Great Shock - Fox Vanilla RC
Fits big tires
Looks Good
Inexpensive ($1350Cdn)
Lifetime Warrenty
THE BEST customer service

Weakness:

Rear stays hit seat tube
Linkage plates / shock combo is not properly designed (Yet!)
Broke rear triangle near disk mount (I am 215lbs)
No gusset plates at head tube (Hopefully will not break)

I have had the bike now for three months and am pretty happy with it so far. This is mostly due to the great service from Cove Bike Shop. The frame cracked at the rear disk mount and they replaced the entire rear end the same day while I waited at no charge. There has been a problem with the rear end hitting the seat tube due to the linkage plates and shock not being properly designed for the frame. I have had to use a 700lb spring to stop this but now the suspension is not very plush. Good news is that Cove has the right shocks coming from Fox and new linkage plates are being made. This will all be swapped at no charge. I tried a prototype of this new setup and it was very plush and did not hit.

This may sound negative so far but the bike does ride very well. It is a good mix between a trail bike and a DH bike. It handles well on the big drops and the thin elevated balance moves. I would suggest buying this bike as the latest models will have the right shock and linkage plates and have gusset plates at the head tube.

Weakness:

Weight (7+lbs probably)

I lusted after a freeride type of bike. Something I could use for xc riding (to get exercise) and for downhill technical insane dropoff stupid stuff as well. I started with a cannondale super V frame and was pleased with it as it was plush and stiff. The super v bobbed/poggoed quite abit in the granny gear though and had a short top tube length that made me feel cramped even with a long stem and setback raceface xy seatpost. Since Vancouver,BC, Canada has long rainy season, lots of technical trails and lots of hills I wanted a bike that would incorporate the following: 1) 5 or more travel 2)coil spring shock for plushness 3) sealled bearings for durability in the wet muck 4) stength for a dual crown fork 5)four pivot design that would good for efficient climbing 6)low standover height 7)allow for extra low seat post adjustments for jumps and stupid stuff. This frame had all of my criteria. After riding for awhile, I have found that the bike handles my all purpose riding quite well. The stroke is very soft in the initial 2 of travel and stiffens up alot to the end of the stroke. The rear triangle is fairly stiff, much stiffer than the Specialized FSR but flexier than the Super V frame. Pedal induced bobbing is less than the super V but more than the FSR. On descents, this frame is clearly superior. On ascents, the Fox Vanilla RC shock has a compression knob that can be used to stiffen up the rear for long fire road climbs. Acceleration is more spirited and lively than the Super V as it resists pogoing better and stiffens up in the last half of the travel. This design does not incorporate the horst linkage like the specialized suspension. The design is very similar to the Kona Stinky frame except the main pivot axis is directly centered on the bottom bracket. As the Stinky has good reviews I presume that this frame also will get good reviews. Overall, this is a great frame and great value for money. Way to go Canada!
