Strength:

I bought the 2001 model. This was a vast improvement over the 2000 model. It comes with the RST front Shock and Shimano Group with Shimano EZ Fire Shifters. It was just what I was looking for in this price range. Also Great price at Bikeshop.com. No Tax, No Shipping, Free Setup, Free 30 Day tune, YEAH!!.

Weakness:

I am 5'9" and the website suggested a medium. The bike seems to run a little small. I probably would have preferred a Large. I also did not like the handle bar that came with the bike. So I swapped it for a Specialized Straight Bar.

This was a good bike at a great price. I was looking for a recreational MTB and this fit the bill just right. This bike is not for Hardcore Mountain Biking, too heavy, and not sure if components will hold up. For Serious riding I would suggest a better bike. For the price, I could not find a better Bike. Be sure you get the 2001 model if you buy one.

Strength:

Sturdy gusseted aluminum frame
Great price

Weakness:

Lower end components, some not Shimano
21 speed drivetrain

I bought this bike with the plan of upgrading it as I needed. When I bought it I wasn't really into trail riding, but I am now. The real value in this bike is the great aluminum frame. It is sturdy 7005 Aluminum and is not found on other bikes in this price range. About 3 months after I purchased it, I added the Manitou SX to make this a good trail bike. The crank and front derailleur are made by Tracer and Suntour, respectively. The quality of these is not as high as Shimano, but they work. I will probably upgrade to a 24 or 27 speed full Shimano drivetrain soon. All in all, the advantage of the Rover is the frame. I would reccomend it in spite of the weak components because they are easily upgraded.
