Price,easy to upgrade

Weakness:

components a little cheap. Comes with a threaded headset and cheap rims

Great bike for the price ($550) excellent bike for a beginner. I recommend that you change the gripshift to rapid fire and upgrade the fork and wheelset. Had only one problem with the pivot point loosening, but the bike shop had it fixed in no time. The rear shock is not best but will work. I am giving it four flames because the stock bike just does not make that extra flame. With a little upgrading this bike can and will become a five.

Strength:

It will get you on the trail with a fairly light bike.

Weakness:

The RST 261 shock sucks. The front sprockets are easy to bend. I have already dented the frame, broke the front rim, and bent the seat beyond repair.

If you want a bike for about $400, check out the Schwinn Mesa or other big names. The Motobecane is a good bike, but I think that I could have done better.

GT Avalanche is the best bike that I have ever riden. With LX and XT components I highly recommend picking up on of these bikes. It is light and super stiff and accelerates well.
