What is it?
Have first tried Canyon bikes in 2008 in their factory store in Koblenz, Germany (actually the only store except for e-shop where you can buy a Canyon bike). Very impressive place and very impressive bikes, they are obsessed with quality, after trying one was looking to buy it since. They only sell directly and avoidong all the dealer network support obviously reflects on the price.

How I got one?
I was lucky to get a frame and fork that was in the factory shop for display and eventually a short test ride so it came at very good value + had the opportunity to make my own partspick thus coming a bit lower on weight compared to more for the Alps designed, heavy-duty factory build. I landed at 11.5 kilos (ca 25lb) with no extra effort or super fancy parts, just using light ZTR wheels and 2.25 Schwalbe Tyres.

Is it any good?
Its actually very good and guaranteed fun. Great stiffness (one of the stiffest machines in its category according to lab tests) pays off in accurate handling and very consistent and predictable feel. Have done some marathon races with it and thanks to low weight + good behaving suspension you dont lose at all in the uphill, when the track starts to point down you rarely find adequate competition. I definitely prefer this 140mm Nerve AM version over the 120mm Nerve XC which I tested back in the factory. There is rarely any weight compromise and the 140mm travel gives you more fun and confidence on the trails. Final words - this is a fantastic, versatile machine. Recommended.
