Strength:

Keeps drinks colder than non insulated bottles.

Weakness:

TOO HARD to get an adequate drink while riding due to stiffness of the bottle and lousy valve design

Don't waste your money on this bottle - Camelback Podium Chill bottle is 100 times better, softer plastic squeezes easily, jet valve REALLY works great, and it is also insulated. I've relegated the Polar bottle to gym use and bought a pair of Camelbacks for my bike, now I'm much happier and a lot less thirsty while riding!!

Strength:

Holds lots of water, keeps water cold, looks good, fits in cage well.

Weakness:

A bit hard to suck out of, a bit spendy.

Get this bottle, you won't be disappointed. Keeps water cold, even on the hottest summer days. The insulation works so well that if you put it in the fridge, the water won't get cold unless you open the cap!

This is by far the best water bottle on the market today. It is a bit pricey, but it's worth it. It keeps stuff colder for longer than any container i have ever used, and they look great. Everyone should have a polar bottle!

For sweltering summer heat it is well worth the trade off of having 3 less ounces than a standard bottle due to the insulated wall thickness. Full of ice cubes will stay cold for up to two hours. If you freeze the bottle contents (be sure to leave 1.5" top-gap for expansion--it will chill up to 4.5 hours). I've had trouble with heat exhaustion, so have experimented considerably. In the earlier 80's, used from 1 - 3 layers of tube socks (for differing thaw-time rates)over standard bottles for 100 mile rides: four bottles--two iced, two frozen. Yep, should have invented the Polar instead. Anyone know or concerned about PBA content?

I have had my Polar Bottles since about 1993 and they have been the best investment I ever made in biking/hiking equipment. They are still able to keep my water cold for several hours. The valves slip and don't stay up all the time, but they still work just fine.

I won't use any other kind of bottle! Go bear go! The new bottles look great, but I can't give up my old friends just yet.

Strength:

Large capacity, 24 oz. Keeps liquids cold longer than a standard bottle.

Weakness:

Not the coldest keeper any longer!

Sorry to say I have found a bottle that keeps liquids colder longer than the Polar! It is the Zefal Isotherm. I ordered four (they came from France in about a week). The bottles were 7.06 each and four cost 12+ for shipping, not bad at all.I fill each leaving a couple inches at the top, with gatorade mix and a shot or two of lemon juice - put in the fridge overnight, fill with ice cubes next morning and put in the freezer for an hour or so before I leave. The same as I fix the Polar bottles. These stay colder longer!

Strength:

Keeps your drink cool, just as it says. Easy to pull apart and clean. Tough plastics and good design. Doesn't rattle in drink holder

Weakness:

It is heavier than a normal drink bottle. Overall volume it can hold is less than the same size normal drink bottle.

SIMPLY a great drink bottle for easy access to fluids when riding.

Strength:

Large capacity; insulation works.

Weakness:

None yet that I know of...

It was tought to spend 5x more $$ on a bottle until you get an hour into a ride and no cold drink. What works best is to take this Polar bottle and a regular uninsulated bottle full of ice and gatorade or water. Consume the regular bottle first, and the polar is still nice and cold for the second half of the ride. I will probably buy another polar bottle so I don't have to deal with sweat on the uninsulated bottles. Buy this bottle if you ride for more than 30 minutes. 4 Flamin' chilis for price, 5 overall because it does what it claims.

Strength:

Keeps your favorite beverage cool a lot longer than a plain bottle.

Weakness:

The new style 20oz bottle no longer fits on the seat tube carrier on my GF's small frame bikes.

I've been using Polar bottles for years. They do a great job keeping fluids cool. I can usually still have a cool drink after an hour or more into a hot ride. They do a much better job than any plain bottle.

As for cleaning, I've never had a problem. I rinse them out as soon as I get home from a ride. I have forgotten to clean them on occasion and they needed more than a "rinsing". A bottle brush like the one in a Camelbak cleaning kit works great.
