DESCRIPTION
Sometimes your drivetrain desperately needs cleaning, but you're simply not in the mood to break your chain. The CG-2 does a superb job making your chain, cogs, and chainrings spic-and-span while leaving everything on the bike. You get a CM-5 cleaning tool, GSC-1 brush, and eight ounces of Chain Brite. Simply pour some Chain Brite into the CM-5 and spin your crankset. The chain gets cleaned as it squeezes through the rotating brushes. Ground shipping only (you can't air freight Chain Brite).

It does clean the chain very well.
Doesn't last very long - poor build quality (material)
no where near enough cleaner included.
I have used this item 3 times over the past six months and it has stopped working correctly.
There is exactly enough solvent included in the initial purchase to clean the chain three times.
The blue plastic main body is covered in crazy cracks and has deformed to to the point where the large wheel at the beginning of the machine does not spin. I think this has something to do with a chemical reaction between the citrus cleaner and the plastic body of the machine.
The chain cleaner has always been thoroughly rinsed as have the brushes/sponges inside the machine, it has also been stored inside out of the sun.
It actually cleans the chain very well but at $11.60 per clean it has not been worth it.
I will not be buying another one of these park tool devices.

Ease of use, citrus solvent has a pleasant smell compared to other cleaning chemicals, works very well and quickly
Plastic construction, price
I like it. I don't know what all of the bad reviews are about. I tried cleaning the chain on a 2 year old bike (that had never been cleaned, or ridden really, but it still had the lube on it from the factory which had turned into glue) using Mean Grean (dilluted 4:1 w/ water), Dawn dishwashing detergent and finally this cleaner got it clean. It took me a few tries to figure out how to keep the chain on the ring gear, but once I had that down (and had someone hold the bike still for me), the chain looks new. I had actually considered replacing the chain because I couldn't get it clean. I paid too much (LBS) but it works. I also used it on my sister's bike. The chain on it was in really bad shape and I was worried it wouldn't come clean either but it did. I think it's a great product and it takes all of the mess out of it while saving tons of time.

It cleans chains.
i used it 5 or 6 times and it broke. one of the brush wheels broke in half. and the plastic near the handle broke. never droped or left in the sun or anything.
It broke after 90 days and about 5 or 6 uses.

spills all over everything and stinks
I have wrestled with this POS for the last time today and desided to dis it to. At first I thought I must be a clod or something for this to make the mess it does but after 4-5 cleanings and still can't not make a god awful mess well taking the chain off to clean it will be looked forward to after using this

it does exactly what it says it will... CLEANS YOUR CHAIN
just a little drip if its rushed too much, but put some paper towel under everything and quit complaining.
it has some bad reviews, but it gets the job done just as well as a toothbrush in a 1/4 of the time. its problem free once i figured out how to use it w/o pulling my chain off the chainring. get a bottle of citrus cleaner, the one that comes with it doesnt last for very long. little over priced, but its worth it in the time you save, and the loss of a tooth brush every cleaning.

cleans great
cheap plastic construction
brush is weak
Not much cleaner included
Tendency for the solvent to squirt out when filled to mark
This was an impulse buy at the LBS. I knew it was overpriced when I bought it, but what the heck.
The chain scrubber works great along with the Bio Chain-Brite solvent. One issue is that you get 2 good cleanings with the amount of solvent they include. Replacement solvent is way overpriced. After I used up the Bio Chain Brite, I immediately went to WalMart and bought some Simple Green. Much cheaper and just as effective.
One problem with the scrubber itself is that when you first start to rotate your pedals, solvent will squirt out of the rear of the unit. Make sure you have plenty of newspaper or plastic sheeting under the bike to protect your wheels/tires and anything else you don't want to get wet and greasy. It can quickly make a nasty mess. If you can, use it outside.
As for the included brush, it really isn't much if you ask me. The handle is supposed to do double duty to get between your cassette cogs and chainrings, but it is just serrated plastic - you just piss off the crud instead of getting rid of it. WTF? There needs to be some bristles there guys. Really, you can go to WalMart and get a pot scrubber for a buck or less and get a better cleaning brush.
Who should buy this? Well, no one should buy this kit really. The contents aren't worth what you pay. It is a good sampler for the chain cleaner solvent, but you can save your bucks and just buy the chain scrubber alone. Go to Walmart and get some Simple Green and a cheap potscrubber to duplicate the rest.
I am giving this one chili for value because I can't give it a zero. I will give it 3 chilis overall because the brush and solvent aren't worth the extra cost, but the chain scrubber does have replacement brushes and foam available.

It actually works - if you don't overfill it! Still the best way to get the chain fully clean - better even than soaking.
Plastic handle breaks. Chain brite solvent is supplied in a parsimonious quantity and is expensive.
(Use auto degreaser like 'hyperclean' (which you can buy in 5 litre cans for $14) - it's just as good. Though it has its shortcomings, this device does work - mine still works after 1 year and it is the best way to get the chain clean - preferable to this splitting the chain and soaking in gasoline nonsense. Rollers and brushes can be bought as spare parts
