DESCRIPTION

The concave end of the punch fits over the rounded head of the spoke. It works okay for setting the spoke heads on the outside of the hub flanges. I"m not entirely happy with it as the concave end of the punch is far too deep and it does not appear to match the curve of the spoke head very well. Maybe their intent was not to mar the trademark that is often on the spoke head. But that would appear to compromise the functionality of the tool. However, the DT spoke head setting punch is woefully inadequate for setting the spoke heads on the inside of the hub flanges. It is too wide to fit through the first spoke crossing, which would allow nearly direct access to the spoke heads on the inner flanges. So you cannot put the punch directly over the spoke head and instead have to angle the punch. It"s very easy to bugger the anodizing on the edges of the hub with the knurling on the spoke head setting punch.
