Weakness:

The wrapper is too wide. It needs to be thinner like a gu.

Strength:

Good flavor, lots of energy, convenient packaging. Doesn't have the proteins that some gels have--ok, this is not a recovery product, it's for energy, so why would I need protein?

Weakness:

Would be nice to have a choice for caffeine or no caffeine in every flavor.

This is an excellent gel. It doesn't stick to the roof of your mouth like peanut butter as some gels do. It's flavor is somewhat remeniscent of very sweet yogurt. This stuff has never made me feel sick. The key is to down it with a whole bunch of water to dilute it so that your body can digest it quickly.

Excellent product for anybody who needs an energy boost in any sport.

Strength:

All flavors are good. They work! Easy to throw in a jersey pocket. Gives you instant boost you need.

Weakness:

Have some water to wash this stuff down. Sticky wrapper when done.

Try them all!!! they're addictive. Don't bother with the flask, you put in 4 ounces and you get out 2, and spend 10 minutes cleaning the damn thing!

Strength:

Taste all depends on the flavor. Strawberry Banana=great. Tangerine=ack! Your results may vary.
Love that caffeine.

Weakness:

A little expensive. Wish all flavors had caffeine or non-caffeine option. Double caffeine tangerine is really bitter.

Best of the Gel brands, by far. Gels are intended to be quick energy, therefore high carb, low protein. That's OK with me. Excellent source of quick caffeine, but the double caffeine tangerine needs to go back to the drawing board.

Strength:

It actually works. Easy to use. Flavors that won't make you vomit while riding hard.

Weakness:

Takes alot of water to get a whole gel down.

The stuff is great for a quick boost of energy. Much easier to use in racing conditions if you use the gel flask and put a couple of gels in and pre-mix them with water. One of the most important things about this product in my opinion are the flavors, who really wants to choke down chocolate mocha or peanut butter when you're racing in 90-100 degree heat?
Overall I'd say the product is geared more towards the racer who needs the quick shot of carbs without all the effort. Casual riders and weekend warriors can get by on regular energy bars and feel they're getting more bang for the buck.

Strength:

High energy content
Quickly absorbed
Gives you a boost within 5-10 minutes
Easy to carry

Weakness:

You need to drink a bath tub full of water after
The tear off tips encourage people to litter
A bit expensive

This product sure does give you energy, and fast!!!!! It's definetly a must for short runs (1 to 3 hours). But for longer runs (5-7 hours), I'd recommend using it along with solid supplements (i.e. power bars, granola bars, etc...). The gel is easy to swallow, but definetly needs lots of water to wash the taste from your mouth. The water is also essential to keep it from "blocking" in your stomach. I've tasted chocolate, vanilla and strawberry-banana. They all taste o.k., but hey... You're not supposed to be eating this because it tastes good! If you want a 5 ***** taste, go to a restaurant! When tearing open the packet with my teeth, I make sure only to tear it 1/2 to 3/4 of the way. That way the tip stays on the packet and goes back into my pocket. No littering this way! The only thing I'd change about the product is the tear off tip. Make a tip that only tears half way or so, so that people don't have to worry about dropping plastic on the trail. You could just tear and swallow!

The bottom line: Power gel has definetly found a place in my racing program!

Because powergel comes in small quantity I take it on short rides. Producer should think about different way how to open powergel.

Strength:

keeps you going, taste has improved a great deal, easy to eat on your bike if you use a gel shooter.

Weakness:

the stuff sticks to everything, and the packages get dropped by idiots on the trail.

I combine these with energy bars, and other high energy foods to keep me up-right and moving during adventure races and other long events both biking and canoeing. I use a gel shooter which holds five gels (no nasty packets to open on the trail). I try and mix the flavours around because I may use 10-15 gels during a 36 hour race. My advice would be: mix your flavours, use with lots of fluids, watch your caffine intake, and never eat to much of this stuff at one time. best flavours tropical fruit, strawberry and lemon-lime
