I used to recommend this rack, but have had multiple critical failures with their parts not staying locked into place when driving. Their engineering looks slick, but is not well thought through and their 100% warranty and customer service is false advertising. I still don't know a better solution, but don't bet on them for the long haul.

Weakness:

Poor customer service, poor longevity, poor warranty.

Good rack if you don't mind if it breaks.

Weakness:

Worst bike rack and even worse customer service. This rack broke after one use. I bought this bike rack after amazing reviews and ease of use from my brother. The pull rod did not budge from the start. I was able to get the rack in the position to carry my bike to my parents house. When I took my bike off and tried to move the storage position, it would not move. I asked my brother, a seasoned user, and he could not get it to budge either (moving my car instead of the rack!). Eventually, the pull rod broke off. 1Up refuses to compensate me for my inability to use the rack. I now have to buy tools to take the entire rack apart in order to fix it myself. 10/10 would not buy again.

hardware is all you would expect from a small specialized manufacturer at that price tag.

Weakness:

customer service sucks. unresponsive, rude and every extra costs you $$. also exactly what you’d expect from a small manufacturer at a time when demand far outstrips supply and their product is waitlisted.

I bought this rack when i decided to add a camper shell to my truck and could no longer use my tailgate pad to transport my bike. I wanted something that was going to be super durable, easy to use, and out of the way since i do a lot of off-roading, including in the Moab UT area. The rack is beautiful, and super easy to install and remove. Loading bikes is a breeze and they are very secure. I have long travel suspension on my truck and tend to drive like a knob when i'm on dirt roads, and that doesn't change when im shuttling bike rides. 'Ive bottomed out my truck suspension a couple of times with the rack fully loaded down, flying down oil roads hard enough to make some passengers hit their heads on the roof, and my first thought was "oh crap I just destroyed my rack, or lost a bike" but no such misfortune, the rack wasn't even loose and the bikes were still snug and secure. love this rack, and cant speak highly enough of it.

Weakness:

The only weakness so far has been the black anodized coating which i paid extra for. After only about a week on the truck the coating began to fade on the swing arms that secure the bike down, nowhere else seemed to be affected and there were no structural issues so it didn't bother me too much. However its been almost 3 months now and the arms are almost completely silver, I sent 1-up a couple pictures, and without having to ask they sent out new ones, no questions asked, no sending back the defective ones, they just sent me new ones. Its for that reason im writing this review, the customer service was amazing.

1UP RACK FAIL!! LONG-BUT READ IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO PURCHASE A 1UP RACK, OR IF YOU ALREADY OWN ONE!! I am writing this review and posting on multiple forums to provide a fair product review, and discuss an incident I have not seen covered in other reviews. I purchased my 2” Heavy Duty Double in 2018 when I had to switch from roof rack mounts to a hitch mount when I got a new truck, and added a third tray in 2019. See my initial, very positive and fair 5 star review after first using it while moving cross country from VA to SoCal from 29 May 2018 at: https://products.mtbr.com/product/accessories/bike-rack/1upusa/aluminum-quik-rack-bicycle-hitch-carrier.html?p=2#reviews. I’m wp6. While stationed in SoCal (I’m military), I spent a lot of time off roading w/ the rack fully loaded w/ 3 bikes to get to riding spots (Joshua Tree, Big Bear, North County, Palm Springs/Desert). I was always cautious and checked the tightness of the hex key lock while driving off road regularly-and drove safely, as there was often over $10K of bikes in the rack. I also drove a ton of just normal highway driving w/ the rack and bikes on w/ no issues-including to MT, NV, AZ and UT. However, the No Hitch Pin failed while on the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands NP. It slid out of the hitch. I was NOT driving fast for the conditions ($6K of bikes in the rack…). As many 1UP rack owners do, I had the rack secured to the frame of my truck w/ a padlocked cable for theft prevention, which was also around my bikes. I was not using the Velcro strap that came with the rack that is/was apparently 1Up’s solution for keeping the rack from sliding out of the hitch in event of a failure prior to upgrading the rack with the Hitch Bar Lock Pin. I never gave the Velcro strap any thought, as it does not seem to be a feasible means to secure a 100+ Lb loaded rack in the hitch if it were to come loose, and have seen few reviewers reference it (example at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oWOpw-unUw – and he discusses it for less than 5 seconds and tells how he got a better Velcro strap at Home Depot…1:45-1:50). Since the rack and bikes were cabled to my truck’s frame, they got drug about 100 yards before I noticed. 15 minutes prior to this happening, I had stopped at an overlook to take pictures, and got out the hex key to ensure the rack was still tight in the hitch (which it was). My bike got trashed (about $600 worth of damage-no riding in Moab…and a long wait for

It’s super strong. I have the heavy duty version four bike rack. We have the bikes, so they’re extra heavy but this rack is by far and away the most capable on the market. The value is astounding compared to the competition. I also like that the rack arrived fully assembled

Weakness:

None yet I will update if I come up with some thing.

This is the most excellent piece of equipment, not just bike equipment, I own. Do you have something that is so well made, so beautiful to look at, so perfect in operation that it makes you smile every time you use it? Well that's what this rack is for me. It's engineered perfectly. It's bombproof in construction. I was trying to decide between this and a Kuat rack. I went with this because I thought for the same price point, this thing would last a life-time without having to replace anything on it. After 4 years, I think it's well on it's way. I love the 3 positions of the tray, it makes storing it on the car nice and it makes trunk access possible when the bikes are on. I have had it on the back of a lift-gate suv and a side-open-gate suv and both are accessible with the bikes in the tilted down position. The side-open gate of a Rav4 isn't as accessible as a lift-gate, but it's do-able and that's what mattered to me. I also love the almost zero-wiggle at the hitch when mounted. It's very solid. And the bikes are so easy to put in and out of the trays. It helps me ride more because it's not a hassle. I've driven long distance with 2 bikes on it, 7 hrs, 80mph, no problems, bumpy gravel roads in the country, no problem. Cannot recommend this to anyone enough.

Weakness:

The only tiny weakness is the weight. I am not a muscular guy, and it's a bit heavy for me to move around. Not impossible at all. But my appreciation for it's elegance and durability more than makes up for this.
