This review isn't necessarily for the Brookfield location, though I have been to that one several times. Mostly, this is for the W&S chain in general, most particularly their State Fair Park bike sale.

Your mileage may vary, depending on what type of bike you're looking to buy, but for most, the State Fair Park sale is pretty much a joke. We found that if you want a low-end bike, or a high-end bike, they may have a good selection. But if you want a mid-range bike, their selection was very poor. They said "we didn't get too many of those in this year at all"?!?! On the bikes they have, they will give you between 3%-10% off MSRP. I had already done my research and knew that about any other bike shop in SE-WI (or anywhere else) will give you more than that every day! Even on their "lowest price of the year", they were more expensive than any other shop's daily price!

Customer Service

When visiting the Brookfield store on several occasions to shop for various bikes for myself and my wife, and to pick up a few accessories (they are very close to where I live, so very convenient, though overpriced), I spoke with several salespeople. Their range of knowledge (or honesty) varied wildly. One was extremely knowledgable, another quite knowledgeable, and a third barely knowledgeable at all. He seemed to be guessing at answers, and gave me inaccurate info a few times (he told me one frame was cromoly, but when I checked after he walked away, it was not). Overall, if you don't already know the answers, I wouldn't trust their answers without double checking yourself, because you simply can't know what you're going to get in the W&S shops.

Summary: The W&S stores are a small chain, and you're going to notice that in all aspects. Their prices will be higher than elsewhere in almost all cases, they're not always going to know what they're talking about, and oddly, depending on what you're looking for, selection isn't going to necessarily be as good. Honestly, other than convenience, I can't think of a single reason anyone would want to shop at the Wheel and Sprocket stores when there are much better SE-WI bike shops. I'd personally avoid them all like the plague.

Shop is nice, clean and organized. They guys there are pretty knowledgeable of both things they do sell and things they don't so it's easy to compare. Everyone there seems to ride so someone has an opinion on almost everything. They have a mountain ride out of their store that the manager Trent does and he is just an awesome guy to ride with.

Customer Service

Service was pretty damn good and my bike was put together quickly and well. I had them help me build a Salsa frame I got elsewhere and Andy and Adam in service were on their game. No issues whatsoever with the bike. I'm happy. They ordered all the parts for me and I got them super quick. They even fit me on my bike and made sure I ordered what I needed and not what I thought I needed.
