We live near Winchester, VA where Blue Ridge Bicycles is located, and stopped in to see what bikes they have. We are Seniors and are getting back into cycling after about 15-20 years. Later, we brought in a Schwinn bike for a tuneup and they did a great job at fair price. The service area is fairly large, and there are up to 3 technicians servicing bikes during the day. Everyone, including Mike, the owner, are riders, and are very competent in the field of cycling. They have a large inventory of repair parts the brands they sell, namely Trek, Specialized and Gary Fisher. And likely for most other brands as well as many repair parts are common to most all bikes. They have a full range of services from minor to major.

The rest of the shop has many bikes on display, especially Trek, Specialized and Gary Fisher covering all types of cycling including kids bikes as well. They have biking apparel, and most all accessories that one would want for their bike or to wear. If they don't have it they will try to get it. They have no problem in answering questions, and giving you whatever time you need to help you out.

Customer Service

After we got our bike serviced, we started talking to Mike, the owner, about maybe something newer, he showed us some comfort bikes made by Trek, which after riding around their property we very pleased with. Our use would be recreational in nature, so comfort was high on our list. We settled on a pair of new Trek Shift 3 WSD's bikes, which are essentially what are called step-thru bikes, similar to women's bikes. Being older, this was really more for safety reasons in case of a spill should that happen, which it did (my fault entirely, won't happen again). The step-thru design proved to be a wise choice. Mike and the crew there, (we've talked to them all), have given us invaluable recommendations, suggestions, tips and hints for which we are very thankful. Their prices are excellent, and you are treated like one of the family. It was interesting to see that there was (each time) a fairly constant flow of customers either bringing in their bikes for service or shopping for a new bike. A good sign. We've visited many other bike shops since, and still feel that Blue Ridge Bicycles is still the best one we've been to.

Blue Ridge is essentially almost a "one stop shop" where you can get pretty much whatever you want right then and there or they will get it for you pretty darn quick. You will be made to feel right at home. We sure were. And that was before we bought any bikes.

When you do come in, you will be greeted by Jack, their Australian Shepard. He loves people and kids. Show him a little attention and you will have a friend for life.

They have a decent size retail space and a repair space visible from the customer area.

Customer Service

If you go in a few times they start remembering you by name. They will work with you on what you want them to do and what you may want to do yourself. They ask what value parts you are willing to buy, they give you an estimate of the cost and completion time - if you can put off a repair, go while school is in session as they say they are busiest in the summer.
They are very nice. They will help any way they can.

They have been in business since before I moved here 26 years ago. They have kept up with changes in bicycles since then. They have a fair inventory of parts and will order anything. I've bought some things there at a price I could not beat online.

Shop is large and well layed out. There is a nice selection of everything from bikes to components, tools, accessories, clothes, and maintenance items. Prices are very fair. They carry Specialized, Trek, Shwinn, Gary Fisher and a couple others I believe.

Customer Service

Everyone there rides and seems to know what they are talking about. Whenever they tell me something about my bike, whether it is a problem or just about upgrades or general stuff, it is always spot on with whatever I find after doing some internet research so I trust these guys to not steer me wrong. They are quick with service and when parts have to be ordered they are usually in within a few days. Often times they are more than willing to work on your bike on the spot too in order to get you back on the road/trails. They also take very good care of repeat/loyal customers.

Just a nice friendly shop to stop in and look around and hangout. If you do get a chance to stop in, make sure to say hi to Jack, the super friendly shop Australian Shepherd that likes to met and greet customers as they walk in the door.
