Trek/Fisher/Scott Dealer. I ride frequently with a lot of the employees, and the head mechanic, Robert, is an avid MTbiker and helps a ton with trail maintenance. For the amount of business they do, they are very small but do an excellent/efficient job of getting you happy on a bike.

Customer Service

As a shop, i've found them to be the best. They don't a push a hard sale, like a certain specialized dealer up the road, and if you aren't happy with anything, they'll work with you to make it right. I've bought every one of my bikes from them, and in every case, they've taken excellent care of me. I had a problem getting my fit dialed in on my racing XC bike (Gary Fisher Superfly) and they spent countless hours (and later rides) making the bike fit like a dream.

The head mechanic, Robert Maye, is one of the best i've ever met. He can diagnose the most mysterious problems and will keep your favorite old steed on the trail for longer. In some other shops, the assistant mechanics can't handle more than basic repairs, but at BikeBeat, mechanics Andy and Wilson are very capable, and keep repairs from getting backed up.

Several of the employees are also active racers, and the shop sponsors a local racing team (James River Velo Sport).

clean; sufficient; pleasant

Customer Service

courteous but hell bent on dumping a bike. sold me a bike with cranks way too long, more than 5mm. possibly, the frame is wrong as well--working with someone else, some controversy. their fitting did not at any point discuss crank length. I did not know until I ran into a knee problem.

Similar Products Used:

go in with a very good idea what works for you or leave with the wrong fit. some might suggest, no duh, but plenty of factors go into fitting a bike that most are not going to know. if you cannot trust the people selling the bike to get it right, that will leave many, like me, with a knee problem or bad experiences on the bike.

I've been going to Bikebeat since they opened. Its a bit on the goody goody side for me and everyone seems a little churchy, but they know what theyre talking about. Everything in the store is pricey, because its in Williamsburg and they know who theyre catering to. Id rather go to Contes. All in all def. try them out and see if you like Treks or Felt bikes more than Specialized or what have you.

Road, mountain, comfort, cruisers BMX, Trek, Gary fisher, Seven just to name a few. Many bikes in stock and three other local sister locations that they can get additional bikes from.
Four locations in all, owner is an avid cyclist as well as the staff.

Customer Service

full service on sight repair. three years and eleven personal bikes later there has not been a problem that they have not been able to handle.

I have purchased 11 bikes from bike beat over the last 3 years and have assisted friends and neighbors with 14 more so when I say that they have outstanding customer service you know it is well founded. From the entry level bike to top of the line models they have something for every level of rider and if they don't have it , they will get it.
I highly recommend all of the Bike Beat Locations not just the one in Williamsburg, although it is my shop for life.

I actually visit this shop more than once a week because I'm only 4.5 minutues away. This shop is awsome and all of the employee ride heavily. If they dont have the product your looking for they can get it extremly soon. They mostly sell Trek, Gary Fisher, and Lemond but they are experts in all types of bikes. Robert Maye, the lead Mechanic, is the absolute best there is. I personally know all of the employees and they are very very very friendly.

Customer Service

Excellent. The only shop I will ever go to. The product bring you in, the people keep you there, and both of them will keep you coming back for more.

I go there more than once a week because im only 4.5 minutes away. Because the shop is small the serivce is extrelmly personnel. I personally knows every single employee and ALL of them have been Mtb/Road riding for years. The are experts in all types of bikes but sell Trek, Gary Fisher, and Lemond.

Customer Service

The people are the best in the buisness and even as small as they are, they have been in the top 100 sellers for Trek in the world year after year.

sgoodwin probably doesnt even ride so you cant trust him. The nearby bike shop he is refering to is Conte's. WAY IMPERSONAL. Conte's is a chain where only a few of the employee's ride. He says none of them ride but he's only been there once. I've been there hundereds of time. ALL of them ride and are good. The employee arent rich either and there not snobs. Dont forget, I know them all. sgoodwin has absolutely no idea what the heck he is talking about.

I don't own Trek or Gary Fisher, there's a much more friendly shop a couples miles away, so I won't waste my time with them again.

Kind of small, but then most bike shops are. Friendly staff, knowledgable enough. Limited stock on hand, but they are always willing to order just about anything I want and it comes in quickly. They are usally a litte less expensive than the other shops in town.

Customer Service

Always treated me good.
