Outstanding in every way. Most knowledgeable, friendliest, and capable professionls on the floor and in the shop. They listen to you to solve your particular questions, then properly match the product or service that best suits.

Best, by far, in the bike fitting realm. No one comes close. Master fitters, Serotta trained and endorsed. Whether it's dialing in the setup on your old steed, or setting you up properly on a new ride, you'll wear your bike like a Brooks Brothers tailored suit.

Customer Service

Professional, knoweldgeable, friendly to a fault, and always looking for ways to improve the customer experience. None better.

East Coasters has been in Blacksburg forever. They've supported numerous events & charities over the years. They have high quality mountain & road bikes in stock. However, I do not shop at East Coasters for a few reasons - mainly customer service & price.

Customer Service

Hit or miss. They definitely don't have a "customer is always right" approach. Some of you are saying, "well, sometimes the customer is an idiot." Agreed, but this approach is not helping East Coaster's sales or reputation.

Stuffy environment. They would much prefer to sell you a new bike than fix your old one. While this makes economic sense for East Coasters, it probably doesn't for you.

I have worked in quite a few shops..so I feel like I recognize a quality shop..and I think this is a quality shop! The staff at the Roanoke location is spot on. They know what they are talking about..they know bikes..plain and simple. I guess people that walk in thinking they know more than they do could be offended when speaking to someone that knows more than they do..way of the world..but I have never been treated like an idiot..even when I must have looked like one..thinking I knew more than I did.

Customer Service

Service is great..no worries..I know when I get my bike or wheel..I won't have an issue. They build awesome wheels btw. I really can't say enough about the staff..it's hard to stay on top of new technologies..I have not been steered wrong..period.

Overpriced, will try to sell you ANYTHING. Not where you want to go if you don't know much about bikes - prepare to be laughed at and feel like an idiot.

If you bring in your favorite old bike for a tune up they'll convince you that you need to buy a whole new bike.

If you've spent time anywhere besides southwest Virginia you've probably come to expect more from a bike shop than what EC has to offer.

Customer Service

Poor - nothing like being sassed from a twenty something bike nerd.

This shop monopolized the bike market in Blacksburg for too long. Finally there is another option - the Bike Barn. Do not shop at East Coasters.

This is for the one in Blacksburg. I has been about 6 years since I visited the one in Roanoke.

OK selection, especially when you compare it to the other shops in the area. WAY overpriced, however, compared to other LBS's. For example, I was quoted $60 PER WHEEL for a wheel build JUST FOR LABOR ($30-$40 is typical at every other place I've been).

On the other hand, they do carry quality stuff, and for the most part they are very competent, especially for road bikes. I think they do good work, but I don't think they are always fair or honest about it.

Customer Service

Hit or miss. They have a couple a really helpful people, but the few bad experiences make me avoid the place unless I need something fast. I once had a guy tell me he had talked to a manufacturer about a rather expensive part that I broken and that it was not covered. I found out a few days later that he was lying to me, and in fact they had offered to send a replacement. As far as I can tell, he lied in order to make a new sale. I had another experiences where I was being pressured to buy something that was more expensive than what I knew I needed (a tandem shifter cable for a normal bike), and I had to be very forceful to get the person to go in the pack and get the cheaper part that I needed, rather than the more expensive (and unnecessary) one in the show room.

On the other hand, they sponsor a lot of races in the area, as well as sponsoring rides for all levels. And again, many of the people are quite helpful.

I think this is a fine place to go if you are willing to do things their way. Buy what they tell you, pay what they ask. This may be OK for someone who is not to knowledgeable about bikes (you will be well taken care of), but if you know what you want and know what it should cost, this place could frustrate you.

good selection of road stuff, alright mountain selection. I go here to get tubes and patches, that is about all because most things are very overpriced.

Customer Service

It was hit or miss. There is a guy there named Cole who is THE BEST. He talked to the people at Trek and got me a dropout for my Session 77 that Trek told me they couldn't get me when I talked to them. I would have been out for months waiting for Trek, but Cole got me the piece in 2 days and it cost next to nothing!!! The rest of the employess, however, were not very good. I picked up 5 feet of brake housing the other week (which cost 24 dollars BTW; about 3x too much) and the guy who cut the length crushed the housing so bad i wasn't sure I could use it. After about 25 minutes of effort I got the housing opened up and working. I mean, it was terribly crushed.

I try not to go here much due to the overpricing and employees. I usually will go to Hokie Spokes because they are cheaper for small parts (if they can find them in the mess). For parts that count, i go online though because the LBS is way too expensive. Don't get your bike serviced at either place though, do it yourself or check out the blacksburg bike cooperative.

Phenomenal shop, Both Roanoke and BBurg do everything they can to take care of their customers. A super selection of bikes, ranging form the nicest Serotta to the Trek 820, they guys (and gals) at EC know their stuff and love cycling!

Customer Service

Excellent, I have seen these guys lend out their own stuff so that customers can keep riding. Quick to lend a helping hand and always willing to work for the customer's best interest these guys are great. They can do it all, build wheels, rebuild campy shifters, you name it they can and will do it.

I started riding about 2 years ago and the folks at East Coasters recommended the right bike for me at the time. I am a FOG and ride both mountain bike and road bikes mainly for personal enjoyment and not racing. I have settled on the bikes that should last me for many years.

Customer Service

The folks in the shop are tremendous. They do a good job of fitting the bike to you and keeping it in good shape. They stand behind their work as well.

Great if you are a roadie or xc.... not the most comfortable place for the lazy DH/FR guys now that Than is gone.... Most that work there are full of themselves, snotty typical weight weenies... I ONLY go there if I have to...

Customer Service

BAD!!!!!!!!!! They wrecked the hell out of my raceface BB cup when any 'knowledgable' mechanic knows raceface DOES NOT use standard splines... I had to bring in my spline tool so they could fix my rig... wish i know then what i know now and I would have wrenched on my own sled and not let those kooks touch my ride....

I am pretty picky about where I take my bike and buy my supplies. The guys at East Coasters are honest and have been in the business a long time (32 years). They know their stuff about the industry. Fun place to hang out and talk bikes too.

Customer Service

Excellent. Greet you when you first come in the door and are helpful, but not pushy. Great for taking care of warranty issues and other problems. The customer comes first and they care about your results, training, equipment and you in general.
