Small shop in downtown Fredericksburg with a small inventory of bikes

Customer Service

At first, willing to help. But they become arrogant and standoff-ish, unwilling to work with beginners who don't know everything they know. They lost this customer. I bought my new bike at Old Towne. Will never step foot in the store again. Last time I went, they just came off as being very rude. Rolled eyes when I walked in the door. Gee, sorry I spent money in your store. Won't do it again.

I would go to far superior stores that offer MUCH BETTER service. Both stores in the area, Revolution and Old Towne provide much better service. Old Towne services and replaces anything with your bike for an entire year, which is great.

I purchased a brake cable kit for $24.99. Without using it, I returned it and was told that I could only get store credit. This was disappointing, however I took the store credit. Later I returned and got some repair help, costing $3.00. Upon paying with my store credit, I asked how long the credit was good. The owner replied, "90 days." I asked if a gift certificate would last longer. He confirmed that it would, then replied "I'm not making a gift certificate for $20. Just keep it. You'll spend that in three months."

I find their return policy to be "store friendly," not consumer friendly.

Customer Service

This store has poor business sense.

A Gary Fisher, Raleigh, Bianchi, dealer. They are handicapped with limited space like every shop in downtown Fredericksburg. Stock Michelin tires, shimano shoes, etc. Nice Painting on the side of the shop.

Customer Service

Very friendly people.

Good with repairs,etc.

I don't know too much about this place, i have been in there twice and it has a comfy feel to it. I haven't bought a bike from there but have gotten my bike a tune up there. No problems with it yet other than typical cable stretching.

Bike Works is a true community shop for the many cyclists in the Fredericksburg area. Every spring, they help sponsor the "12 Hours at Lodi Farm" mountain bike race, and have organized regular road and single track rides for years. It is conveniently located in the Old Towne neighborhood of the city, near the Chatham Bridge, just a few yards from the Rappahannock River. They used to carry Schwinn, while the company was still selling a quality product, and now deal in Gary Fisher and Bianchi. In any case, Tom and Andre will help you to find any bike, part, or piece of gear that you require or desire. Their customers include everyone from a 7 year olds looking for their first bike, to serious downhillers looking for full suspension and disc brakes.

Customer Service

I have purchased several new bicycles from bike works since the mid-90s, including a cruiser, city-bike, and a high end mountain bike, and recieved excellent warranty service. The very competent mechanics at the shop have also helped me to build a single speed MTB, refurbish a road bike and 1970s vintage tandem, and have helped some partners and I to maintain a bicycle rickshaw business in town. The service, repair work, and modifications that my bikes have recieved at Bike Works have always been complete and reasonably priced. As a bike commuter, I have relied on the shop for years to help me get to and from work, and they have never let me down.

Bike Works is a great place to to shop, buy, or get repairs. It is also a wonderful place to talk all things bicycle, and meet others who have a passion for cycling.

Small shop with young staff

Customer Service

What customer service? I bought my bike in August 2006 and have just had my Manitou front shock go. I Rang Bike Works, who didn't want to know and said that it was down to me to sort out and that i had to contact Manitou direct. Manitou says, "You need to have the shop contact us for an RA# to send the forks in to
be repaired. Unfortunately we do NOT deal consumer direct". Fortunately for me, Revolution Cycles in Stafford have been fantastic, they spoke with Manitou, have sorted the problem out and will take care of me from now on.

All my future business will be with Revolution Cycles in Stafford and i will recommend to all my friends that they do the same. When your expensive bike goes wrong and is still under warrenty, you would expect the shop you bought it from to do their part. Clearly not with Bike Works.
