Like walking into a Ferrari dealership! There is some serious bike porn in this store. You better be ready to drop some coin. They are accustomed to affluent clientele.

Customer Service

I can see how people could get rubbed the wrong way at times but once you get to know the staff they are VERY helpful. Staff (especially mechanics) is generally very busy. I’d suggest going during the week if you want some quality one-on-one time. On the weekends it can be a mad house.

Mechanics are top notch. They have too much work to finish in one day so end up staying well after the store closes. Conte’s in some ways is a victim of its success.

Definetly some nice bikes in there! However, even a good 'ol boy like me found what I was lookin' for (mountain bike, that is). Very helpful staff. Pricing is right on track with others - maybe better for some stuff. Easy to find and on-site parking. What more could you ask for?

Not my kinda shop, this is a shop for platinum cardholders with pressed pants...I felt totally out of place, and I AM a bike geek by definition...I was walking around with my punk rock shorts and exposed tatts, constantly being eyeballed by the staff....not a one"hey, need any help?"...just a bunch a eyeballs peering down on me as if i was gonna pull out a pistole' at any moment and "bust a cap"..or try to five finger a tube...hell,maybe i;ll go back in there and eyeball them....but i sure as hell aint buying nuthin.
great shop for yuppies with six figure bank accounts i guess

The shop carries some of the best brands in the area. Titus, Ibis, Niner, Specialized, Pivot and Cannondale. Large selection of high end bikes. The turnaround time on repair is less than a day even during the summer. I bought a Ibis Mojo from Contes. I've gone back for various repairs and general tune ups. They took care of me everytime.

It's refreshing to have a local shop that caters to the high end of the market in the area. The staff is well educated on what they sell along with new products coming out and stuff that hasn't been around in years.

It seems like everyone there rides as I've seen most of them on our local trails or at races at one time or another. Because of that, I trust their opinions on bikes and gear. They also sponsor several races that I've been to, which to me means they are involved in the biking community, not just their shop.

Before I came across this shop, I bought 75% of all my bike gear online because the LBS often didn't carry it or had never heard of it. After 5 minutes of flipping through a big parts catalog, I would get that dreaded answer-"we can order it". That meant 3 or 4 days when I needed it now. So I would save the drama and just order online.

Conte's seems to carry most of what I need and I can't remember the last time I actually bought online. Their prices are very competative and for the customer service I get its well worth it. There are times I stop in just to ask a question, talk shop or find out about an upcoming ride or race and someone always have an answer.

Poor Customer service, super arrogant jerks working there, I won't be back (see below)

Customer Service

I went in today to look for a saddle. I also wanted to test ride a Specialized Era Comp and possibly a stumpjumper. however, as the one sales clerk was checking to see if they had the item I was looking for in stock, another sales person walked at the front door with a woman who was going to demo a bike. As soon as she pedaled a couple of feet away from the door, she began to do some bunny hops in the parking lot.. The salesman came back into the store, laughing and mocking her. The bike mechanic guys joined in and mocked her as well.

Well- do you think I was going to feel comfortable demoing a bike in front of these guys - h#@l no. They came across as super arrogant pigs. I left quietly without demoing a bike.

I truly regret that I didn't go up to that woman and tell her they were just totally mocking her and give her the opportunity to make an informed judgement about where to spend her money.

I can tell you those arrogant b#$R##ds won't get a dime of my money, I can buy a bike somewhere else.

I just stopped by Conte's for the first time today to buy a couple of things and to demo a specialized era comp and a stumpjumper. While one salesguy was checking to see if they had the item I needed in stock, another employee, a young guy, walked outside with a woman that was demoing a mountain bike. As soon as she pedaled away a few feet, she tried out a couple of bunnyhops on the bike... The guy that had escorted her out came in and started cracking jokes, the bike mechanic guys near the door started mocking her as well.

Do you think I was going to demo a bike in front of those a-holes after that? H#[email protected] no. I will demo the Era comp and the stumpjumper somewhere else. Their tone was so nasty and mocking, I realized why the only women seriously into biking learned from a husband or boyfriend- unless you show up hanging on some guy's arm and are a guy's "property", your just a piece of Sh#$# that is completely undeserving of respect.

After I left the store feeling bad, it occurred to me that I should have walked up to that woman and told her what the deal was - right in front of those guys - let them loose a sale for being a#$#holes. It will be a cold day in hell before I give them any of my money.

Arrogant and rude and I'm from NY. I had some simple questions about my Cannondale bike and bike builds in general and I was treated like a infant.

The introduction of Conte's in Arlington, VA has been a major plus for me. It's a rare thing to find patient, attentive, and friendly customer service at bike stores in the DC metro area, and I find just that with the guys at Conte's and hence I keep going back. At the beginning, I was initially interested with this store because it was only the second distributor of Cervelo bikes in our metropolitan area. They have a very good stock of clothing, wheels, and different types of bikes. The owner, Scott, is very personable and always there to assist. Whether you are new to cycling or a speedster, or you're looking for a store that caters to triathletes, I strongly suggest you check out this store.

Always attentive
