Great selection; went to try to get velcro pads for my bike helmets and ended up buying a helmet. Great selection of helmets and good prices.

Customer Service

The shop owner was in my face, but his sales help was very nice and helpful. I went to try to buy pads for my bike helmets and got a lecture about how I needed to buy a new helmet if I valued my head (after doing more research after leaving the shop I found out he was completely wrong). If he had just told me that he didn't sell the correct pads anymore (and that no one did), I would have just bought a new helmet without getting really angry at him.

When I asked the owner about buying pads for my bike helmets he started yelling at me that I need to buy a new helmet---mine were old and needed replacing. He said helmets should be replaced every 2 or 3 years no matter what. I asked him what happens to helmets that sit in a garage to make them unwearable, he said something happens to the "molecules." I have a Ph.D. in chemistry, and unfortunately nothing really happens to "molecules" of styrofoam. I understand that a helmet that is dropped or involved in an accident should be replaced (styrofoam can crack); styrofoam can be burned (melted) or dissolved (i.e. in fingernail polish remover or paint thinner); or it can be compressed. However, styrofoam doesn't degrade (this is actually a big environmental problem). I looked up more information on the Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute website (bhsi.org), and they said a helmet should be replaced if involved in an accident, dropped on a hard surface, or if purchased in the 1970s. Otherwise, it should be fine. Any merchant telling you that bike helmets need to be replaced sooner than that is just giving market hype to sell more helmets.
