Non-pretentious is the best way to describe this shop, great prices, if they don't have they can get it. great shop and very fast since most shops are several days out for minor repairs.

Customer Service

as you would expect, spot on. best customer service around

it's nice to have a shop open seven days a week, fast service and prices that can't be beat, what more does one want?

Bought my gal a complete bike there last year and have been sending friends and newbies there ever since. We actually went to the one downtown first, but left because the sales guys acted like used car salesmen desperate for comission. The shop has a wide variety of good stuff with good prices. I won't shop there anymore though.

I wait five minutes while mechanic is trying to talk a lady out of buying the same LX rear derailleur cheaper online. His argument is that you never know what your going to get.
I ask him for a rear 6" hayes adapter. He says, "Oh that's complicated, you have to know the size and everything." I repeated, rear 6" hayes adapter. He says I need a part number. I explain to him that it's the same adapter I have on my 3 other bikes and my girlfriend's (bought at his store), point being, they're all the same. He goes into a longwinded, "I can't stock everything, there's so many brands and sizes. If I stock everthing, I won't have room for all the t-shirts and clothes." I say, "Yeah, that's what's important in cycling, looking good. Having functional brakes is an afterthought."
At this point, he says he can special order it for $10+ $5 special order charge + $10 shipping, it'll take a week. I say no thanks, I'll get it online. Found it on Amazon for $3 + $5 shipping. Got it today, package, listing, and receipt read: Brake Adapter 6" Rear. Fits perfectly.

I understand not wanting to dick around with small parts you won't make a lot of cash on. But all he had to do was say he didn't carry it and maybe offer to order one. I hate the way they treat every customer like they know nothing about bikes. Making up crap about how complex Hayes adapters are is BS. There are 6 standard models that are on a large percentage of the MTB's out there. Rear 6", 7", and 8", front 6", 7", and 8". They do have a few oddballs but those are for specific, oddball frames.

I WENT IN TO THIS STORE BECAUSE IT'S SPECIALIZED IN CYCLING SO I THOUGHT I WOULD GET MY QUESTIONS ANSWERED AND FRIENDLY SERVICE.

Not too long ago, I was very pleased to discover this well-known national retailer a close distance from my residence. By its nature it offers the ability to actually examine a wide variety of merchandise in person before buying. With frequent specials, promotions, and the Performance Club 10% discount, the customer is encouraged to drop in at frequent intervals, even without a specific purchase in mind. It gives the impression of a well-run business with an active plan to keep customer traffic at a maximum.

OBTRUSIVE SECURITY CONCERNS DETRACT FROM SHOPPING EXPERIENCE The shop is located in a mall with a door opening to a walk outside, and an opening into the mall proper, by the repair shop. Apparently this setup results in a lot of stolen merchandise, because I have never been in a place where I have felt more "hovered over" and suspiciously eyed than in this place. Although their business model seems to be set up to encourage browsing, doing so only makes one the object of suspicion. A recent visit just about "takes the cake". I had about ten minutes to drop in, knowing clearance apparel was advertised at 50% off. I must have been one of only a few customers, and I nodded "hello" to three employees standing near the entrance. Instead of offering customer service as I walked back to the apparel, they called the mechanic out of the back room to "intercept" me instead! I again addressed the employees at the front as I left. "Just had a few minutes to look around", I said, to their skeptical gazes. Not once was I offered customer service. Outside, to my chagrin, I noticed a large bulge in my pocket, a 12 oz. bottle of herbs prescribed by my acupuncturist. Great!

I am a middle-aged white male, clean-shaven, with a short haircut, conservatively if casually dressed. So I doubt if I fit a particularly risky profile. I too work in retail, so I am in fact sympathetic to their situation. But there is a right way and a wrong way to do things, and, to be honest, it is simply too often an unpleasant experience to shop here when there are other good alternatives.

great prices. great clothing inventory. great foodstuffs. so-so parts inventory. nice selection of brands of bikes you won't see at other shops in the area (GT, SCHWINN, MONGOOSE, FUJI). in a mall. (so the wife can go shopping and i can look at forks and wheels.

Customer Service

the below reviewer is right. don't ask for tech advice. i've never talked to paul though. the cust service is nice though, they try to help, which is way better than some other stores. they are around but not pushy, they smile and don't act like you're an inconvenience to their magazine reading. they are bikers so while not so good with tech stuff they do have opinions on their own experience.

Since Universal moved this is the closest shop to my house. Paul is the MTB mechanic. He is always help full and knows what he is talking about. The rest of the monkeys in the store are pretty worthless but the prices are still as good as it gets.

Customer Service

I wouldn't recommend asking anyone other than Paul for help. I have gotten wrong answers from almost everyone ELSE there.

Good Service Department, good prices. Go if you know what you need or are dropping off your steed. Don't go if you need advice (and Paul isn't there).

I know it sounds like I'm in love with Paul or something, I'm not, I'm not even friends with him. He has helped me on multiple occasions though so I have to give him props.
