The owner of this shop does not honor verbal contracts and would not pay me for a Kayak that I had on consignment with them even though I was coming into the shop frequently to check on the sale of the item. Customer Service Liars, Thieves Similar Products Used: Spend your hard earned money somewhere else. |

This is another shop that's more of an all-purpose outdoor store. Bikes take up one corner of the overall shop. You'll also see skis, snowboards, wetsuits, kayaks, canoes, etc. Mostly used. Customer Service Kind of aloof, not all that personable. Uncomfortable to talk to, actually. I felt like I was being sized up, like when I left I was to be the topic of conversation for the rest of the afternoon. Similar Products Used: This just isn't a bike shop. They sell used sporting goods. When I think of a bike shop, I think of someone I can trust to fix the bike I buy from them. To me that means that bicycles are a specialty, and at the Gear Peddler a bicycle is just a thing that sat in the garage until someone decided to sell it second-hand. |

hmmm...I don't think they are actually authorized dealers for all the brands they mention in the description. This is a used gear store. They might sell one or two huck brands (Transition?) as authorized dealers. Used bikes are way overpriced, although they have a big selection. Everything from a junior track bike to a nice italian handmade road bike, mountain bikes and everything in between. Customer Service friendly staff, but not sure of their technical expertise on the bikes. it's hard to figure out what their strengths are when they everything under the sun. |

new and used Customer Service Great. as a woman biker they don't try to sell you things by the color, or talk over your head like your an idiot and know nothing about bikes. a lot of shops here in Bend have guys working that don't know how to help out women riders. when we say we want women specific, we want women specific. a "man's small" is not going to cut it, and these guys do NOT do that.
Similar Products Used: i found out that most prices are negotiable- so if you think a price is too high try bargaining. |

Well the first impression of their shop is....Wow what a cluttered mess! It's hard to tell used from new gear. Their prices are crazy high. Overall, it feels like a 2nd hand sporting junk store. Lots of old junk cluttered everywhere with new items in between. Customer Service Well, it is lacking. I don't even think they know what half the stuff they have in there is or where it is!
Similar Products Used: I think what is the most downside to the shop is prices. When you go into a shop like that you should be able to find outstanding deals. Not the case here. In many cases I've used them to find savings instead of purchasing new items from other shops. Too many times their used gear that is quite used and shows is maybe $40 cheaper then what other shops sell for new. Maybe they price too high or the items I looked at were a consignment deal were the owners wanted top dollar. Either way as a used store, they need to be real about their pricing. No wonder they have the same used mountain bikes for near a year now, like the Cove Peeler. And to sell a beat up thrashed Norco North Shore for the same price one could buy a Shore 3? Come on, seriously, the bike doesn't even have a seat post or seat? To actually have that on your floor with a near 2 grand price tag??? |
