Service and maintenance staff are great; however, Greg, the owner/manager is an absolutely self-absorbed and ignorant salesman who will guilt and push around prospective buyers for even mentioning competition pricing. He is completely intolerant of price-matching or contending with other bike shops. I have written communications with him in which he trash-talks me just for asking him if he is willing to match the price of another, much better priced, dealer, Eddy's Bike Shop.

Great if you want service or maintenance. The tech's are knowledgeable and helpful. Gregg, however, does only harm on his own business.

Owner and manager Greg has single-handedly brought discredit and poor customer service to the name of Spin Bike Shop.

Unfortunately I have developed some beef with spin over the past few weeks and due to my last visit have decided to share it with anyone who is considering doing business with them:

Firstly: People who work at a company do a much better job when they actually believe in the product they sell. Every employee I've met at Spin loves riding a bike. I could really see their passion transfer over into the work that they were doing.

It’s not the employees that I have an issue with. Ultimately it’s the management I have beef with.

My Story: Divided into visits:

Visit 1: I basically needed a frame swap and did not have the time nor the knowledge to do it myself. I called up a few local bike shops and spin gave me an awesome quote of $100 for the job. I took all of my parts (already off the bike) into the shop.

Visit 2: A few days later my bike was ready to go. I went to the cash register only to be quoted at $150. I told him that was the incorrect price and after the sales rep looked into the computer screen for about 1-2 minutes he had then agreed that the higher price was a mistake on his part. Not even two miles into my first ride and the bike was already short shifting.

Visit 3: Upon taking it back to the shop I had also asked how much it would cost to get an extra 20 mm added to my 80mm fox fork. They quoted me for an overhaul at (50$) which sounded like a great deal for an extra 20 mm of travel.

Visit 4: I came to pick up my bike and was told that I didn't even need the entire overhaul. I was also told that I would get an extra %25 percent off the $50 overhaul charge. When checking out, I didn't get the extra %25 percent off. At that point I thought Spin had done a great job in serving me as a customer so I just decided to let it go. It was the end of my first ride that I had noticed my cap seal had been blown off on the front shock.

Visit 5: I took my bike back to Spin and was told that It would be fixed sometime next week. The next week passed and I called them on Monday. It was then that I learned the part they had to order was not in yet and that they would have my bike ready for me sometime Thursday. Finally Friday (two weeks after I dropped it off) I called Spin and was informed that my bike was ready to go.

Visit 6: Which is the only visit I have any major beef over:
After coming in to pick up my bike I was informed that there was a service fee plus $10.78 for the part. Wasn't the service fee supposed to be part of the $50 overhaul which they didn’t get right in the first place? I voiced my opinion immediately. I told him that it would not be fair on his part to make me pay the $10.78 after paying for a full overhaul that I didn’t get. I specifically requested that he would waive the $10.78 to make up for the discount I didn't get "ewith reciept in hand." At this point all he could do for me was waive the "service fee."
I guess one of the biggest benefits of being a customer is deciding where you spend your money. “I really hope Brian, reads this last part of the review”
Benefit of being a customer ex: one spring and fall tune up at $40 = $80 a year x next 10 years of riding= $800.
That’s $800 of my money that Spin bike shop will never see.

My summary: The only other company I can compare Spin bike shop with is that of a used car dealership.
-Great if you’re buying a car, bad if you’re getting your car serviced there.

I am reviewing the Willoughby location. I agree with the other reviewers of the Lakewood location. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Did a repair to a wheel for me for less than $10 that another lbs was going to charge me $60 to replace the rim, and it has taken many hits since then and has stayed true. I will definitely buy my next bike there!

Best shop in Cleveland, hands down. The only reliable mechanics in the area. If you take it there, you can be sure it'll be fixed right the first time. Their staff actually rides bikes. They can even keep track of a special order. Awesome stuff.

By far the best shop around in terms of knowledge, attitude, and willingness to get what I need ASAP- often everything is in stock. Definitely not a budget shop, but you get what you pay for. Isn't that why we do business with IBDs anyway?

The most knowledgeable staff i have ever seen at a shop. It's like everyone there rides every kind of bike. There are BMX, road, cyclo, dh, xc and dirt jump gurus to answer any question about the hottest new gear and parts that---- here is the best part, they actually stock!!!! Sweet selection oh high end goodies and dope bike lines to boot.

This is a very professional, upscale shop. It wouldn't be at all out of place in Boulder or Portland. The guys are very knowledgeable, and they all race so they know the scene, and not just the tech stuff.

These folks have done work on both my FS mountainbikes. The work was well done, they were friendly, have great advice on local trails, and in one instance they pushed hard to finish a job so that I could get back on the trail as planned. I recommend their shop as well as their website.

If your looking for high end bikes and bike parts this is the place. I've bought 6 bikes from them and I've been completely satisfied with every one of them. This shop has only been in business for a few years but with their selection and experienced staff they are on their way to being one of the best bike shops in the country.
