Small shop right on 17k near the Barrens trailhead. Good lighting and clean....almost sterile feeling. Good selection of high-end bikes, mediocre selection of accessories at full MSRP, crappy salesman. Customer Service Holy pretentious Batman! My friend needed a brake adjustment to his Juicy hydraulic's on his new GT and the salesman expressed zero interest in a quick repair. It was a Sat and my friend was in from Buffalo, so the "should be ready by Wed" was of no help- he didn't even look at the problem. Anyway, I'm still riding v-brakes, so I have no experience with hydraulics, but it took me 10 min. to fix the issue at my house/tools. My LBS in New Paltz always let's you ride into the back of the shop to look at problems, then addresses quick fixes or asks if you can leave it with them. Similar Products Used: Guy was really an ass- I think he was the owners son, went off about people who bring their bikes into the shop when he has a sign outside that forbids it. Wow dude, you work at a bike shop that your Dad owns, IMPRESSIVE! Agree with the previous poster about having to walk in with bank to get any sincere help. |

If you dont have hundred dollar bills hanging out your pocket you will be ignored and looked at as a nobody. Customer Service Needed a derailleur hanger from a bike purchased there a few years back, i am first told this bike is old time for a new one....then i ask for the part and e bike is put aside on service rack, i ask if he has part, George says he has to look, i wait 45 minutes and he looks at me and says " im not looking for the part now, if you want it go somewhere else!" I take my bike and leave Similar Products Used: If you are not there to spend large amounts of money good luck getting aknowledged or even greeted, prices are too high and employees are rude and dismissive. I badmouth this bike shop bc the 3 times i tried going i was treated like dirt, Joe Fix Its, and Wheel and Heel are better choices for bike shops |

I've been riding for about 14 years now and am a regular at several shops in the area. I was shopping for a 29er a few years back and decided to check them out. Well, I wasn't impressed with the general attitude. The sales guy with me came off as a little egotistical, kinda like the quintessential roadie attitude. They had a couple niners there which is what I came for, but they wouldn't even let me take anything for a parking lot spin to get a feel for the handling or even sit on it for fit. I've never had a shop refuse a test spin so that was that, I've never been back. I know some shop wrenches can be "cliquey", but they lost a potential new customer. I don't care whether they give a rats a** or not but I always support and buy through the LBS, never the internet. I can't give an accurate rating for technical expertise because I didn't get a chance to try them. They are very active in the local scene so I won't totally trash them. I'll give them a neutral rating of "3". |

A small shop off of 17k on 208, close to the Barron Rd trailhead to Stewart. From what I saw, they carry Specialized, Niner, and Seven bikes and parts from Shimano, Specialized, SRAM, and KMC.
Customer Service Being a professional mechanic myself, a F-15 Crew Chief, that has a passion for bikes and knows them very well and have visited many bikes shops around the world from my travels, I rate these guys as the worst.
Similar Products Used: They teased a pair of women that were visiting the shop to have their bikes worked on. They were in tight bike clothes and were fairly attractive. In my work place, that would've definitely been sexual harassment, but the girls were good sports. I noticed the fake laughs except when they commented on the mechanic's style (mismatched printed socks in bright primary/pastel colors).

Small shop with quality products and good inventory. Customer Service Excellent customer service. Friendly, knowledgeable, guys who always have a good attitude. Similar Products Used: Been to this shop a few times for both quick fixes (at no charge) and emergency minor rebuilds/replacement parts at very reasonable prices. Work done while I waited so I could get back to the trails. Even gave be a 29er loner bike during one of my emergency fixes so I could ride while they fixed. Great guys. |

As I stated in an other post. We stopped at a few other bike shops before we went to Dark Horse. They beat the prices by almost 10%.George and Mike always make time to answer all of our questions. Their knowledge of bicycles and how to fit you to a bike making you a better rider is unbelievable and they are willing to share it with you. Dark Horse has become our home away from home. They don't always try to sell you the most expensive part or bicycle they sell what fits your needs and budget .If your looking for a quaility bicycle shop stop in and see them. You won't be disapponted. |

Clean, nice selection of gear/equipment, nice selection of bikes. Customer Service I've visited this shop several times, generally when I need a last minute item, quick fix or emergency repair while riding Stewart Buffer. These guys are friendly, quick, do very good work and are always willing to chat up bikes and trails. Very worth stopping in the shop if you are visiting the Buffer Zone Trails. |
