Very friendly and easy to do business with - very reasonable prices - a good feel for how much to help - lots of info if you want or need it but not if you don't

If this is the kind of service you can expect at a business in Manhattan I'm sad to live here. It's heartbreaking that this is the only bike shop in town. We've tried to take my wife's bike in for repair twice now. The first time she was turned away even though she called and they said to "bring it on in." The second time she had a busy day and had 20 minutes to get it there before they closed. This time she had an actual appointment so they couldn't turn her away. She was there one minute before they were supposed to close, plus it was raining. I drove to pick her up, and by all of our clocks we had one minute. Both signs in the window said open yet the door was locked. We could see three employees and they could see us yet they would not come to the front to see what we needed. On a third visit before trying to drop the bike off a second time I was looking for a bike rack and the guy at the counter didn't even acknowledge me when I went to the front, so I left. The Pathfinder website praises their principles, one being excellent service. If this is the kind of service one can expect from a Manhattan business I am so sad to have just moved here.

Yes, they're the only bike shop in town. They sell bikes, parts, accessories as well as camping/hiking/outdoor stuff including shoes/boots/sandals and clothing. They have convenient hours and parking. The bike mechanics are also the bike sales-guys. It's obvious that they are all into various kinds of cycling. A few of the employees attended the recent Interbike show in Vegas.

Customer Service

My experience was great. I visited the shop several times while trying to figure out what bike I wanted. Each time a different employee helped me, and they were all patient and friendly. The day I bought my bike, the manager helped me for over an hour as I took a few different bikes for rides around the parking lot, trying to decide. Prior to shopping for a bike, I visited the store, and also found their employees to be helpful and friendly.

They usually give you a phone number to call so they don't have to fix it when they don't know how.

This shop sucks. Everything is overpriced and the mechanics do a mediocre job. I priced a pair of specialized shoes with them and they were asking $40 more that the specialized website. Most of the employees have very little technical expertise and are uneducated on much of the gear and equipment they carry. They definitely have a monopoly here (the next closest shop being 40 miles away) and they definitely know it. I really want to like this place but every time I go I leave pissed off. Save yourself some bucks and frustration and avoid this shop. I'd suggest Capp's in Topeka or BikeTek in Salina.
