Cartecay Bike Shop - Bikeshops, Ellijay, Georgia

DESCRIPTION

The one to go to! Mike Palmeri has been serving the cyclists of the Southeast for 20+ years. He was there when the first MTB race hit the Southeast at M.O.E's in the early 1980's and still providing top notch service today. Mike will not try and push riders towards todays fads to make an extra buck. He will only advise you to what you need and what works. Having been Riding & Racing now for over thirty years, he knows what works. Ellijay is considered the Mountain Bike Capital of Georgia, with over 100 miles of mtb within 30 minutes of Downtown Ellijay. He knows these trails like no other and is always willing to show them off to mtb'ers that are visiting the area. If you are the type who likes to use a shop run by a mountain biker, Catecay Bike Shop is your place!

Mike/Terry Palmeri & Jim go above & beyond to make sure all of their customers get their personal time & attention. They treat each as if they are the ONLY customer. I have been patronizing Mike for over 7 years. Him & Jim are master mechanics, bike & wheel builders. One of their other many specialities is suspension rebuilds & tuning. I have had a Fatty Headshock & several Fox suspensions rebuilt & tuned.

I recently pulled the trigger on purchasing a 2013 Santa Cruz Tall Boy Ltc. from the Cartecay Bike Shop. After enjoying one of the shops Demo Days I deliberated over 2 years on how I wanted my new stead built. Mike took me to breakfast one morning after a 24 hr shift at his other job as a fireman with the Atlanta Fire Dept. We spent over 2 hours going over the specs & build. My conundrum was building a durable, comfortable & light bike that was not only appropriate for the challenging North GA Mts but was also good for the flat, rooty, sandy rollers of South MS, LA & AL. Mike came up with the perfect solution. Togther we compared what the on-line competitors had to offer. But CBS met & exceeded my expectations with advice & service during this anxious purchase & build. I want to tip my helmet to Mike & Terry for their friendship & service over the years.

My only suggestion would be to open the boxes when the shipment first comes in to make sure everything is there & not wait 3 days to build the bike before the cutomer is to pick it up.

Mike is an honest man and truly loves cycling. He will only sell you the bike you need, not the most expensive he can get you to pay for.

This is exactly the kind of bike shop we all wish for. My only problem with it, it is 90 minutes drive from my house. However, I've never been disappointed.

Mike and CBS have done more for MTB in the southeast than anyone I know. Probably buts as many trail Mant. hours in as shop hours. If it was not for them mountain biking in north Ga would not be what it is today!!!

You will have a hard time finding someone with something bad to say about these guys wich says alot!

Small shop with personality, Not a huge selection but everything you need.I've been riding for 14+ years and this is by far the best shop I've been to or know of.

Customer Service

Mike and Kevin know bikes and they love to ride. They focus on fulfilling the customer's needs and not just selling inventory to make a sell. They'll give you a honest direct answer to any question and not make you feel like an idiot for asking. Mike is the most genuine person I know, he's quite a character.

From avid racers, to someone who hasn't been on a bike in years, this is your shop

Small, but focused on quality. Not interested in pushing lots of product; rather they focus on stocking quality bikes and matching this quality with the rider's needs.

Customer Service

Can't say enough nice things about Mike and Kevin. They are very knowledgeable, friendly and considerate of customer's needs. They steer you towards quality. They sell the bikes and parts that they ride and use themselves: Say no more.

Mike and Kevin were able to arrange for me to ride several bikes. This included borrowing their friends' bikes so that I could try out a Moots, Maverick Matic and a couple of Superlights. I took them out on a local trail in the rain and mud for a test ride: bought a Durance.
Finally, in the 3 hours I was there at least 4 other people came in just to say hello and talk bikes with these guys. Just down to earth and very nice.
