Big Kahuna - Bikeshops, Littleton, Colorado

DESCRIPTION

This is my bike shop. An independent, local. They've always been attentive, flexible and reasonable. A big plus is they keep my mountain bike running smooth - I tend to beat on it and they always bring it back to life. And they're friendly too.

I was looking for a RIP9 and ran across this shop in a Google search. I recall seeing them in this review section before and that they had received good ratings and they had a sale going on for an XT built RIP9. So I decided to check them out.

Customer Service

I went in and demoed the RIP9 and loved it. Came back in to talk to the owner, Chris, and discussed a few parts I want to change out over his advertised build and that was no problem. He even called me later that day and said he could upgrade me from the regular Stans Flows to the Stans Flow EX rims at no charge, which was great since I'm 225 lbs. Chris had the bike built the next day by middle of the day and I walked out a VERY HAPPY customer!

Chris knows his products well and takes the time to try to find out what you need. No high pressure sales here, just casual, friendly bike talk.

thought long and hard about buying a niner online. after contacting chris and talking about a new rip 9 2x10 it became apparent 1. these guys know what they're talking about and 2.they care about taking care of their customers. ended up with a complete 2010 rip9 decked out in sram 2x10.wanted to make a few minor changes to the kit and they were very helpful and accomodating. chris kept me informed as to the status of the build and sent me the tracking # when it shipped. upon arrival the bike was well packaged and a snap to finish putting together. the inaugural ride was absolutely flawless. i have no qualms about recommending VERY HIGHLY bike kahuna bikes.

Just bought a Niner RIP 9 there. Pricing was good but more importantly the service was great. These guys know bikes and components and how to build them. Very professional operation.

Customer Service

About as good as it gets especially for a bike shop.

Even though this shop is far from where I live and I have to pass about 3 really good shops on the way, I will go back in a heartbeat if I'm looking for another 29er.

Great location and very well staffed. It is a privately owned shop...no big corp. Because of this they are very friendly and knowlegdeable. It is very obvious that they have a lot of experience in all levels of cycling.

Customer Service

Customer sevice is fantastic. If they don't have what I need on the shelf (which is rare) they are more than happy to order whatever I need...whether it's a small part or an entire bike.

I do 100% of my business with Big Kahuna. I ride all sorts of bikes and they have everything I need to keep them all running in tip top form. They also have great mechanics for the stuff I can't do. All of my mtn bikes are 29ers and they have are the best 29er shop in town by a very large margin. I would rate this shop with 6 chili's if I could.

The shop is in a new location and looks very nice. It is clean and well organized and the mechanic stands are in the open in the back so you can watch them do their magic (I'm not mechanically inclined so fixing a bike is magic to me). They no longer carry Rocky Mountain bikes (the type of bike I purchased from them), but they still service my bike and do a great job of getting it back to new.

Customer Service

This is a great bike shop! I bought a Rocky Mountain Element from them a little over a year ago. From the purchasing to maintaining of my bike they are always helpful. Over the past year I have had pivot bolts break, hydraulic brakes freeze up when the temperature went below 32 degrees and now today a crack was found on my swing arm. Through all of the troubles they have always found the problem and fixed it always offering an explanation of what was going on and what they did to fix the problem. Today when they found the crack in my swingarm yoke they had already contacted Rocky Mountain to get the replacement part under warranty before I even came back to pick up my bike. I could have bought my bike from a closer RM dealer but I got a better feeling from this shop and I'm glad I did. The guys at Big Kahuna are are knowledgeable, professional, fast and have always been very helpful and friendly with me.

Big Kahuna is a local bike shop. They are not as big as some but are better than most.

Customer Service

Fast, friendly, and professional. Get to know Chric and Brandon. Between the two mountain and road bikes and unicycles will be serviced and repaired professionally and competently.

I have been going to this shop since they opened. They have treated me grandly since my first visit. Chris and Dick do an outstanding job of taking care of me and my bikes. If they don't have the part or accessory I need they can get it for me in a reasonable time. I have always been treated well whether I have them do the work or I do it at home and all I need are parts. Brandon is a consciencous mechanic who is as crazy about cycling as I am. That's part of the reason why I recommend this local bike shop, they ride what they sell so they know what is good and what isn't. They have never steered me wrong.

I really wanted this to be my local bike shop, I tried, I really did. Nice enough guys working there. I have spent probably over $500 on parts/labor etc. the last 5-6 months there. I take my two Salsas' (dos and El) that I take there to service on stuff I can't do, which is pretty much everything.

Anyway, I couldn't get my Shimano 959 pedals off my Dos Niner so I took it in there thinking that they would recognize me and just take them off for no charge. Nope, the mechanic who I've had mumerous conversations with looks at me like a stranger. It takes him 10 seconds to get my pedals off and asks me for $2

Never going back. REI is now my LBS

Customer Service

Good customer service, like I said nice guys, they are just real greedy. I understand you have to make money to run a business and to live. But when you charge a good customer who has given you over $500 in services the last 6 months $2 to remove pedals I have to draw the line.

Done!

As stated before, local bike shop with good service. They seem to treat every customer with the same level of respect. When I was in, they spent more time than I would have been able to stand helping someone select a basket from a catalog. They also seem to be able to retain good employees, which really says something.

Big Kahuna Bicycles is a local shop with great service. They have a wide variety of mountain, road and BMX bikes and will work with you on customizing the bike that you want. They sell Giant, Rocky Mountain, Scott, Haro, and some 29 inch bikes too, Niner and Salsa.

Customer Service

They have the best customer service than any other shop I've come across. They have fixed things on my mountain bikes that other shops could not. They are the only shop I trust with my bikes.
