I have been in larger shops, but they seemed to have a good selection of bikes (they are a Trek and Rocky Mountain dealer + others?) and used the small square footage of the store pretty well. Stock heavier to road/hybrid/comfort/commuting and kids bikes, less mountain bikes. Perhaps their other location focuses more on mountain bikes - don't know as i haven't been there. Good selection of small accessories (bells, computers, etc) but less so on bigger items (bags, clothing, etc). I purchased a Trek Valencia from them, complete with rack, helmet, bell, etc for commuting to work. One small disappointment was the lack of stock Trek interchange accessories, considering they rack they gave me was an interchange rack. They did tell me that they could order it for me.

Customer Service

My first purchase in the store was just a bell and cheap computer as a gift, but they also took some time to answer some questions about the items and some general questions about bikes despite the fact that I was clearly not buying a bike that day and the shop was quite busy. The second time in, I went in 20 minutes prior to close on a Friday night to inquire about a good time to test drive a few bikes. They insisted that I test ride bikes (3 of them) then, even after I made it clear I was not buying a bike that night. During that visit, I asked how the product compared to a Kona Dew Plus, that the store does not sell, and they told me it was a good bike, I should test drive that as well and then told me the local shops that stock it! Bought the bike the following day and they gave a pretty good deal. I dealt with one of the owners thru the whole process, but other staff seemed friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

I am posting this review because I almost did not purchase a bike from this store because of the poor reviews on this site, despite the fact its a 5 minute walk from my house. I normally don't bother too much with posting reviews but felt that someone had to balance off the rather poor reviews posted here. In summary, great store, good products and helpful staff. I plan to deal there as much as possible in the future - both for sales and service.

West Point Cycles offered the worst LBS service I have ever experienced in my life. The selection of bikes is cool but beyond the initial sale the staff are not interested in customer service. They cater to the cashed up Kits set who like to buy expensive bikes that they never ride ….

Customer Service

A couple of weeks after picking up my SC Blur the right crank fell off whilst I was riding down the street (thankfully not a NS trail). When I returned to the store they offered little apology and suggested that this sort of thing happens “quite often”. On a $4000 + bike?

I had another issue with the fork seal leaking for which they brushed me off again. I didn't even bother taking it back for servicing after that, despite the fact that they offer a years free service.

I am female, perhaps the guys would have a better time of it in there?

The Kerrisdale shop has lots of space and several staff to help you. Good range of bikes and accessories. Fair prices.

Customer Service

On three separate occasions I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff. While I wasn't looking for technical advice or big-ticket items, the customer service was very good.

Shop experience is different for both stores. First impression is that the West 10th store has a bit more polished layout and offers a higher range of bikes. In comparrison, the W45th store is bit more down to earth and offers bike ranges from lower end to mid range. The W45 store has a greater amount of traffic as evident with the amount of local bikes and hi-end bikes comming and going through the shop for a tune-up.

Customer Service

I've been to both shops looking for bikes for my family. I have very little knowledge about bikes beyond my extensive research on the internet. The staff at west point cycles (W45th) store were very pleasant and provided me with the comfort and peace of mind i was looking for in purchasing bikes for my family. Sarah and Tim were great resources of information and made sure they got us up and biking for the weekend. In the end i purchased, Rocky Mountain Trailhead, Norco Mountaineer, Chariot Trailer - Cougar 1, and a Yakima Big Horn hitch rack. I would go back to West point cycles in the future and have made me a customer for life as my family continues to grow and enjoying riding in BC.
