Worst bike shop I've ever been to! Unbelievable high prices for real crap! After a few weeks (months) I had —amongst others:
– front wheel rim with run-out;
– front brake non centred (horrible noise, especially under rain);
– disc brake stopping working when too long braking (quite dangerous)!;
– rust on the screws;
– play in the pedal bearings and pedal screws going out;
– chain with no tension (right from the beginning);
– rear wheel axis twisted;
– front light broken.

They even admit they sell crap: "Well... usually our suppliers don't put good quality gears (chain, pedals, derailleurs, sprocket...etc) on our new bikes"! So what! We pay thousands of dollars to have an approximately working bike?

Customer Service

Always advise you to buy new (expensive) stuff. Technicians totally unskilled in fixing your bike problems. They are sometimes really busy and don't have time to take care of your bike (I booked an appointment once, for a few days later and when I came back they told me: "we hadn't time to look at your bike. You shouldn't have taken an appointment for this day. We're really busy!". Maybe, they couldn't make enough money on my bike since it was just for "free" maintenance in the context of their 1 year warranty service (in the contract).

And by the way, warranty service is quite useless: now, it has been more than a month that I've been waiting for a new rear brake. For security items like this, they should give you a new one directly!

Mechanical staff gives sarcastic smiles and worst bike setups, leading to excuses that higher end cables & cable housing is needed....

Ask around and trust the reviews, you won`t go...

Owner gave me a $156 recipet and Mechanic told me that if I wanted my crank greased it was $130 charge?????? Garry at Overtime charges $10 I asked him.... No BS here just honest venting from me.

Customer Service

Abusive service from Mecahnical staff and Store manager.

My bike was damaged while in there possession and the lead Mechanic just smiled and said I know but I`m not paying for it, my staff said they did not do it??? My rear wheel was on the bike when I brought it in but they could not get the axle through the rear wheel to put it back on my bike when I came to pick it up but He still smiled and said nope it was like that before...

Store manager offered a gift card for the endcaps they returned that I bought from another store but also told me not to come back to Caps.

The customer service I recived is just crazy, abusive and criminal. How can they take something that does not belong to them and say here is a store credit for that item?

I have been overly patience with this store as they are 3 blocks away and tried working through there constant ignorance just to have them sabatoge my bike & take my property then offering a gift card and told not to come back to the store... Sound abusive to you?

Bought bike in August, 1 month later and Caps had it in there possesion more than I did... Numerous times I picked up my bike with them saying it`s perfect only to ride it and find the chain jumping around, take it back & same thing over and over big smiles and crap setups... They installed the wrong sized bashguard, wrong sized rear derailleur and constantly did not tune the shifting properly, my front brake has a bubble in it so it only works once in a while even though they bled it again...

The only thing I ever did was ask them to do the job properly and have them give me the runaround again and again with big smiles on there faces, A guy I bike with bought a bike from them and they said off the shelf it would not shift properly so new high end cables & cable housing and still the chain is jumping up and down the rear gears... I have the same bike and I know the B tension or derailleur distance needs to be 6mm from the rear gears as per sram tech sheet and that`s it, it will work perfect...

Read other reviews of people venting and trust what they say, Coquitlam Caps is no good...

This split off from the original Caps. Caps New West is friendly and helpful and we have been long time repeat customers. Unfortunately, they were closed Sun so we went to Caps Port Moody/Coquitlam (Westwood Cycles)when we bought 2 more bikes. Big mistake. We will never buy from Caps Port Moody/Coquitlam again nor recommend this store to anybody.

Customer Service

Terrible and abusive. CAPS westwood cycles does not accept bike returns for 'health' reasons (even if it never made it out the store) but they don't tell you that until after you've paid. When we picked up our purchase several days after it was tuned, there were many scratches that we hadn't seen before. The store said that was normal and refused to take the bike back or give a replacement even though there is a written policy for returns on defective merchandise. The only thing they would do was to try to ‘buff out’ the scratches, which means removing more paint and more paint sheen. The manager started swearing when we went back to talk to him again. So DON’T BUY A BIKE FROM CAPS Port Moody/Coquitlam unless you want your brand new bike to come scratched up or deal with a manager who is not upfront about his sales tactics and who uses abusive language to his customers. Also, the 'tune up' was ultra sloppy - the chain kept flopping off when the manager tried to demonstrate the bike wasn't defective the 2nd time we went in.

Big shop, lots of selection

Customer Service

Bad sales service. Looking for a Trek Fuel or Remedy and asked the owner what I should buy based on the type of riding I do; he kept saying, it's up to you. Yes, I know it's up to me, but I'm wanting some advice how how a bike might suit my type of riding and skill level. I got try both bikes around the very small store parking lot. I went to Bicycle Sports Pacific in North Van instead where I got actually ride the bike and they explained why I might perfer one bike over the other.

Nice modern store with a lot of stock.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I needed to return my recent bicycle purchase to them the next day. Even though the bicycle had never left the store (I was picking it up next day because of assembly times) they refused to take it back! Their best offer was a hefty 20% restocking fee on a bike which never went out their front door!!!
The owner kept pointing to the fine print on the bicycle sales contract that there were no returns. The bicycle sales contract itself leads you to believe that you are agreeing to "wear a helmet" and "ride in a responsible manner." The part about about no returns hides on the side of the page away from where it would normally be read.

So, be sure you actually love the bike before you buy one from Caps Westwood.

Large, Clean, well staffed, lots of things to peruse

Customer Service

Staff are generally helpful. For some reason, Caps Westwood Cycle seem to employ young kids. Some of them are quite knowledgeable, while some are a bit clueless. Bought a few items from them. Price seems reasonable.

I think being such a large LBS (possibly largest in Lower Mainland), they do stock lots of items in there. I like the spaciousness. One can wander the isle and not be "watched" by the store staff. Overall I have no problems going back to shop for items.

Customer Service

Absolutely horrid when it comes to their shop section! My gf's dad used to work there and is credited with having established their road biking division. Well that was well and good when it came to buying a bike, they gave her a good deal. However when we went back a couple days later for the customary tune-up they told us it was going to be 48 hours turnaround! This of course being garbage for a 10 minute job I pressed the issue about the horrid service till one guy did it just to shut me up. They then proceed to tell me how busy they are etc etc. What a load of garbage, quick 10 min job and we would have been out of there repeat customers. Instead they give such abysmal service they drive you away.
